Megan Thee Stallion appears to get in huge argument with NSYNC backstage at the MTV VMAs

The 'Savage' rapper was not giving the 'Sweetest Pie' to Justin Timberlake

Megan Thee Stallion appeared to get into a huge argument with *NSYNC backstage at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

The ‘Savage’ rapper was getting herself ready for her performance with Cardi B when MTV's cameras looked at her.

Wowing audiences with their smash song, the two stars performed ‘Bongos’ at the VMAs in New Jersey.

But it appears Megan Thee Stallion had some strong words for *NSYNC as they passed.

Backstage footage shows her having her hair prepped as the '90s boyband walk past and Justin Timberlake turns to chat to her.

This does not look good.

And instead of happily talking back, the ‘Sweetest Pie’ star shook her long-nailed finger at them and did not seem particularly sweet.

She looked to be snapping at the boyband and she eventually turned away shaking her head as they walked away.

Reacting to the already viral clip, users wrote on X: “Idk what they were arguing about but she’s right.”

But one suggested: “All Justin Timberlake did was say hi.”

Others said an argument between the pair was ‘not on my bingo card’ for the night.

However, it seems like it wasn't what it appeared to be.

A source has told Variety what actually went down.

"[Timberlake] said, ‘It’s so nice to meet you', and she said ‘No, no this don’t count, this don’t count. We gotta meet proper'," the source revealed.

Either way, Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B absolutely killed it as they took to the stage with ‘Bongos’, with viewers raving about the pair.

Made up of Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Lance Bass, tonight marked *NYSNC’s first reunion in 10 years as they presented the Best Pop award to Taylor Swift.

And Swift absolutely lost it when she saw them take to the stage – a much more positive reaction it seems than Megan Thee Stallion’s.

The ‘Anti-Hero’ singer admitted to being unable to contain her excitement as she collected the VMA (her first win of the night with a whopping eight nominations).

Wondering just what had prompted *NYSNC’s reunion she said: “Are you doing something? What’s going to happen now?”

The ‘Bad Blood’ singer just couldn’t cope as she said to the crowd of music fans and celebrities: “They’re doing something and I need to know what it is.”

And maybe she’s right - word on the street is *NYSNC is set to release new music soon.

Timberlake is of course the voice of Branch in the Trolls movies, and there’s speculation his old boyband will have something in the upcoming Trolls Band Together movie.

If it’s true, it’ll be their first release in over two decades.
