Kim Kardashian’s friend Jonathan Cheban sues BBQ sauce company for $20 million

He claims the bottle broke and cut him, which meant he couldn't use his hand in social media posts.

One of Kim Kardashian's best friends is suing a sauce company after he claims a bottle exploded in his hand.

Jonathan Cheban is one of the reality TV star's closest pals and he's made a name for himself as a bit of a foodie.

His social media name is FoodGod and he's dabbled in the restaurant and food industry for several years.

Cheban's Instagram page is full of photos of him trying delicious and outrageous food.

His gripe is with San-J’s Korean barbeque sauce.

He's suing the company for a whopping $20 million over an incident he claims happened in 2020.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the 49-year-old says he put a bottle of the BBQ sauce into the fridge and when he took it out hours later it 'inexplicably exploded'.

This caused 'significant blood loss' and a big gash on his hand.

Cheban claims the lid hadn't even been opened yet and was still on when the bottle broke in his hands.

He alleged the gash on his hand was very close to main arteries and has caused him considerable pain over the years.

But here's the kicker.

Jonathan says the injury on his hand saw him lose the 'ability to use his hand in his social media posts, in his advertisements, and in his ability to sponsor various food items'.

The Daily Mail says he had dozens of endorsements in 2021 and they were worth tens of thousands of dollars.

So, he reckons he's entitled to $20 million from the BBQ sauce company as a result.

He has photos, which have been published by TMZ, showing the broken bottle as well as the stitches that went into his hand.

You can see the gash is at least five centimetres long and is just underneath his thumb on his palm.

The company hasn't released a statement yet.
