Harrison Ford’s Shrinking co-star Jessica Williams reveals why he’s not in the group chat

Harrison Ford’s Shrinking co-star Jessica Williams reveals why he’s not in the group chat

The Emmy-nominated actor has opened up about the cast's relationship with the Indiana Jones star.

Jessica Williams has revealed the reason why her Shrinking co-star Harrison Ford has been left out of the show’s group chat.

Last summer it was announced that Williams, 34, had received her first Emmy nomination for her role as Gaby in the comedy-drama Shrinking.

The star’s performance earned her a nod for the Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series category.

However, she faces tough competition from the likes of The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri and Abbott Elementary’s Janelle James.

The 75th Emmy’s ceremony takes place on January 15 and ahead of the evening, Williams has sat down with the New York Post to chat all things Shrinking.

If you haven’t seen the AppleTV+ offering yet, then you need to know that it follows therapist Jimmy Laird, (played by Jason Segel) who is grieving the death of his wife.

As well as Williams, the show’s cast also includes Ugly Betty’s Michael Urie, regular SNL member Heidi Garner and Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford.

The actors allegedly remain tight as Williams has revealed they continue to take part in a group chat together… Well, all except Ford.

Jessica Williams has admitted that Harrison Ford isn't in the Shrinking cast's group chat.

Opening up about his omission, the former Fantastic Beasts actor told the publication: “Harrison’s definitely not on it. You could say it’s a group chat minus one.

“I just don’t think he texts. I don’t think he has to text. I don’t even know if he has a phone.”

Despite apparently not having contact via SMS, Williams and Ford certainly shine together in various Shrinking scenes.

During season one, she drives around Ford's character Dr Paul Rhoades, who acts as her mentor at the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Centre and suffers from Parkinson’s Disease.

However, Williams has admitted that getting into the vehicle with the Oscar-nominated actor initially made her feel anxious.

She said: “I was really nervous.

The star said she felt 'nervous' while filming driving scenes with the Indiana Jones actor.

“It’s almost like when you don’t care about typing when you’re alone, but all of a sudden somebody’s over your shoulder … and you’re like, ‘Oh, how do I type?’

“And then you mess up … and you’re like, ‘I promise I type better than this.’

“So I get a little self-conscious driving in front of Harrison Ford for that reason.”

Regarding Ford - who is due to receive the Career Achievement Award at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday - Williams claimed that he was a ‘classic’ joke teller.

“Like, you know people that will give you a setup, a punch line and tell you a story … It’s just such a cool kind of old-school thing to do.” the actor said.

Shrinking has been renewed for a second season, however, it’s still not known when the TV show will drop on the streaming service.

Feel free to revisit all ten episodes of season one on Apple+ TV now.
