Jeremy Renner has made a heartbreaking admission about his recovery after he was seriously injured in a snow plow accident.

The accident, which took place in January 2023, saw the Avengers actor hospitalised as he went into long term recovery from the catastrophic injuries he sustained.

These included breaking eight ribs, both of his legs in multiple places, his right shoulder, his mandible, and eye socket.

The actor even spoke about how he could see his other eye after the accident, and not in the mirror.

Renner has gone on to make a miraculous recovery from the injuries, and even returned to acting just under a year later in December 2023.

At first, the actor admitted he thought he would be living as 'a spine and a brain', but has gone on to regain vision in both eyes and is mobile

But despite his remarkable recovery from the accident, Renner has made a heartbreaking admission about his long term future after his injuries.

The actor said that he has accepted that his injuries were so severe that he will have to live with them in some form for the rest of his life.

He told PEOPLE: “I had to accept it for the rest of my life. There'll be nothing normal or as it was prior to the accident. By the way, I'm okay with that. It's making my life better. I'm healthier because of it."

Despite the immense difficulty of admitting this to himself, Renner said that it has been an important step in his recovery.

He added: "I get to focus more on my health and well-being than I ever did before because I have to.

"Recovery will be until I'm out of this old hot mess of a body. It was a way for me to really accept that it is going to be forever."

Renner recalled: “I wasn't in the room. [My physical therapist] said what I didn't want him to say, which is like, 'This is f—-ing forever.

“So I just manned up, chin up, let's go. Here we go. That's how we do it. We just change the perspective of it and let it be.

"At least I like wellness and taking care of yourself, for the most part. I think it's a pretty good thing.”

Renner previously opened up that he felt extremely fortunate to not have been alone when the accident happened.

He said: "If I had been alone, that would have been a horrible way to die. And surely I would have. Surely.

"But I wasn't alone. [I was with] my nephew. Sweet Alex. And the rest of the calvary came."
