Fans stunned after seeing comparisons of houses celebrities grew up in with big differences

Fans stunned after seeing comparisons of houses celebrities grew up in with big differences

Some of those on the list had humble origins, others not so much

When you think of your favourite celebrity, it might be odd to imagine them before they were famous.

One way to get an idea of where someone has come from is a look at the place where they grew up.

And in the case of some celebrities, this certainly creates an impression.

While some celebrities come from houses which indicate humble origins, or if not humble then at least average, others are not so much.

For example, Taylor Swift made history when she became a billionaire in the wake of her Eras Tour, but the singer-songwriter is not exactly a rags to riches story.

Her childhood home in Pennsylvania, where she lived before moving to Nashville aged 14, is a five-bedroom house.

It was described on a sales listing as a 'one-of-a-kind Georgian colonial home', and sold in June 2022 for $800,000 after initially being listed in at $1,099,000.

That said, the house barely holds a candle to the $85 million mansion which was the childhood home of Bella and Gigi Hadid.

As for those from less wealthy origins, Eminem made no secret of his childhood home in Detroit, with the house featuring on the cover of two of his albums.

In 2013, the bungalow style home was demolished following a fire.

Since then, the land has been bought up and is set to be turned into an urban bee sanctuary, according to a report from The Detroit News.

One celebrity you may be surprised came from humble origins is Leonardo DiCaprio.

Before he became the source of endless gossip for his apparent refusal to date a woman over the age of 25, he actually grew up in a modest bungalow in one of the less-nice neighborhoods in Hollywood.

Speaking to CBS, he said: "I had a prostitution ring on my street corner; there were drug addicts in my alleyway.

"I got sort of robbed at five years old or something like that. Yeah, it was a pretty hardcore neighborhood.

"I think that gave me a lot of motivation to sort of, I think, be successful really, and try to do something else."

Rihanna also had more humble origins, growing up in a bungalow a short distance from Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados, on Westbury New Road, which was renamed Rhianna Drive in 2017 in her honor.

She lived there between the ages of five and 16, and the property is currently available to rent on Airbnb.

After a number of celebs' homes were shared on Reddit, fans found the post eye opening.

One wrote: "It seems so weird to me that there are people who actually grew up in old castles lol."

Another said: "I knew Eminem came from the trenches but gahdamm."

A third agreed: "Big respect to Eminem."
