Britney Spears has spoken out after cops greeted her when her plane landed due to a horrifying act she did at 30,000ft.

The 43-year-old was returning home from a vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, when she was issued a warning by police in Los Angeles for her in-flight behavior, upon touchdown at LAX Airport, on Thursday (May 22).

After having been given stern words by the authorities she was allowed to leave without officers arresting her.

During the flight, Spears is understood to have violated federal aviation regulations by lighting up a cigarette.

Since 2000, smoking has been outlawed on any commercial flight departing from, or arriving in, the US. Vaping is also not permitted on board.

The Mississippi-born singer has conceded that she was under the influence of alcohol at the time, while on board the JSX airline - which is a public charter operator.

Spears, who lives in the Californian city Thousand Oaks - which is a 25-minute drive northeast of Malibu, explained that the reason for smoking on the plane was partly because it was her 'first time' drinking vodka.

Taking to Instagram late last night, local time, she posted: "Me yesterday!!! It’s actually incredibly funny!!! Some planes I’ve been on you can’t smoke mostly but this one was different because the drink holders were on outside of seat!!! Confession it was my first time drinking VODKA!!! I swear I felt so SMART!!!

"I was like wow what the heck is in there!!! I felt so clear and smart!!! And said I want a cigarette so bad!!! My friend put it in my mouth and lit it up for me so I was like OH SO THIS IS A PLANE WHERE YOU CAN SMOKE!!!

"I do so apologize to anyone I offended but the flight attendants always make sure I’m way at the back of plane anyways!!! I thought officials greeted me as support and I was like WOW I feel special!!! I’ve never been to an international airport!!!"

Spears continued: "Am I famous or something??? The flight attendant called officials because I smoked a cigarette!!! And embarrass me which jeez I thought was kinda much but she didn’t like me the moment I got on plane!!!

"Nobody was on the plane for first 20 minutes and she wouldn’t let me get out of my seat I wanted to stand up!!! She acted so weird about making sure I sat down and it was weird!!! I didn’t like the way she put the seatbelt on me and invaded my space!!!

"Oh well you guys like my flower choker??? B tiny is coming soon and thats something we have added!!! It’s honestly adorable!!!"

LAX Police confirmed to TMZ that they attended the scene, adding that a Customs employee issued the warning to Spears.
