Matthew Perry wasn't a fan of acting advice he got from co-star Salma Hayek that 'didn't make sense'

Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek starred in 1997's 'Fools Rush In'

It seems that Matthew Perry wasn't a fan of Salma Hayek's acting advice on set.

The pair famously starred in 1997 comedy Fools Rush In where Perry plays a New Yorker sent to Las Vegas to oversee a construction project.

After a one night stand with Isabel Fuentes (Hayek), months later, he learns that she is pregnant, which prompts the two characters to get married.

As you can imagine a lot of crazy s**t happens in-between.

You can check out the trailer below:

Well, in Perry's new memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, the actor claims that Hayek's advice, at the time, 'didn't make sense'.

Perry revealed that he came up with 'some fun strategies to tap into real feelings and to be more of a leading man than a funny sitcom actor' - and so did Salma.

"Salma had tried her best, too — she came into my trailer at the start of the shoot and said, 'Let's just spoon a little bit'," Perry writes.

"I did my best Chandler impression — the double-take-and-sardonic- stare thing — and said, 'Oh, OK ! Let's just spoon a little bit!'."

He claims that 'her long-winded ideas weren't always helpful', writing: "There's one scene in which I'm professing my love for her. She suggested that we don't look at each other — rather, we should look out at our future together. After listening to this nonsense for about twenty minutes, I finally said: 'Listen, Salma', I said, 'I'm telling you I love you in this scene. You look wherever you want, but I'm going to be looking at you'."

Famously known for playing a bubbly Chandler Bing, Perry has opened up about his struggles with substance abuse.

The 53-year-old claims that his motivation behind writing the book was to try and help others who continue to suffer from addiction.

Perry also said that he doesn't think any of his co-stars will read his memoir.

In a recent interview with GQ, the 53-year-old says that 'the cast is not going to really care about' his new book.

He said: "Why would they read it? I don't know.

"Because, you know, who cares? Addicts are going to care about this, and fans of Friends are going to care about this.

"But the cast is not going to really care about this."
