Man arrested after travelling across America to 'ask for Rihanna's hand in marriage'

Man arrested after travelling across America to 'ask for Rihanna's hand in marriage'

Police officers descended on the pop star's Los Angeles home after the man reportedly tried to force his way in.

Police have reportedly arrested an overzealous fan who attempted to gain access Rihanna's home to propose to her.

Local authorities have told TMZ that the man had traveled all the way from South Carolina to get down on one knee in front of the Barbadian star.

For those who don't know how far that is, he came from the east coast all the way to the west coast for the alleged act.

TMZ says he simply walked up to the pop star's home on Thursday (March 23) with the plan to propose, however he was stopped in his tracks by security.

A spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the incident to Page Six.

When the man advised Bad Gal RiRi's security team that he was there to ask for the star's hand in marriage, Rihanna's team called the police.

When law enforcement officers arrived at the 35-year-old singer's home, they placed the fan into handcuffs before leading him away for a bit of a chat about dropping in on celebrities.

Police then told him that he was to leave RIhanna's property and never return.

UNILAD has reached out to Rihanna's team for comment.

Unfortunately for the currently pregnant mum, this isn't the first time a fan has tried to force entry to her home in order to spend time with her.

In 2018, a man named Eduardo Leon was dramatically arrested by police inside the star's Los Angeles home.

He'd been squatting for 12 hours inside the Barbadian musician's house before he was found.

They disabled the star's security alarm and proceeded to squat in her home for at least a day before he was discovered by the star's assistant.

He told police as he was arrested that he was waiting for RiRi to come home so he could have sex with her, The Independent reported.

Big yikes.

Leon later pleaded no contest to felony counts of stalking and vandalism, and a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.

The Fullerton man was later ordered to stay away from Rihanna for 10 years, was placed on formal probation for five years, and placed on GPS monitoring for 90 days.

He was also told to stay off social media.

No contest means the accused accepted the charges put forward to them by the prosecution but declined to enter a guilty plea.

As per Sky News, prosecutors said Leon will also have to take part in mental health and drug treatment programmes.

If he slips up and violates any of the terms of his probation, the 25-year-old may face up to four years and eight months in a state prison for the 2018 incident.
