Madonna gave perfect reply to ‘little black baby’ comment during awards ceremony

Madonna came on stage at the British Comedy Awards 2006 to present an award alongside Jonathan Ross

Madonna had a perfect comeback to Jonathan Ross' ‘little black baby’ comment during an awards ceremony.

The pop icon came up to present at the British Comedy Awards 2006 alongside the British TV personality, who made a controversial comment about Madonna adopting a baby.

Watch below:

The clip has resurfaced on social media and people 'can't believe' what the host said almost 17 years ago.

As shown in the video above, after Madonna takes to the stage to present the award, Ross references her newly adopted child David Banda, who was born in Malawi on 24 September 2005.

After finding charitable organisation 'Raising Malawi' in 2006, Madonna decided to adopt 1-year-old David from Home of Hope, an orphanage in the capital city of Lilongwe.

Ahead of the news, Ross said: "Wow what a year it's been for you.

"Congratulations on the tour and congratulations on your lovely little black baby, David."

Most of the crowd gasped in shock while others thought it was funny.

"Are you stopping there or are you going to get more because I went to Africa, all I came back with was a wallet," he continued.

Madonna brilliantly responded: "Well you might go home with a black eye."

"I will go home with a black eye," Ross replied.

Commenting on the clip, one shocked user wrote: "He would not get away with that now."

A second added: "Madonna is far too smart for him."

While a third echoed: "That was rude and that was a great comeback."

"Don’t anyone think it’s funny how all these people, got away with this acceptable TV," another said.

A fourth simply commented: "Terrible," while someone else wrote: "He would get cancelled for that now."

UNILAD have contacted Jonathan Ross' representatives for comment.

Earlier last year, Madonna praised her 17-year-old son for wearing her dresses and proudly thought that the teenager 'looks better in them' than her.

David was also recently featured dancing on Madonna's Instagram while wearing a floor-length silk dress.

The 'Like A Virgin' hitmaker, told The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that David can look swag' in any outfit.

"It's really irritating," the iconic singer said. "He wears my clothes and looks better in them. He can even wear a dress and look butch."

"He's going to end up being one of your guests," she said before explaining that he has 'everything' required to make it as a star.

Fallon replied: "He's got it. He's got magic. He's funny, he's charming, he's athletic, he's a good-looking dude."
