The rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has announced his bid to become the next president of the United States.

While he doesn't have any prior political experience and isn't exactly popular right now following a slew of anti-Semitic comments, Kanye West believes he can become the next president.

The rapper was filmed saying he was going to run for the White House and announcing that Milo Yiannopoulos was 'working on the campaign'.

He also showed off a series of presidential bid-related merchandise, including old items of clothing from brands which have dropped him since his anti-Semitic comments with 'YE24' printed on them.

Asked 'so you are running?', West bluntly said 'yes' and showed off his operation, which at the moment appears to be largely concerned with selling off the clothes from all the companies which ditched him.

The rapper also laid out some of his political philosophy, claiming everyone needed to 'update together'.

He said: "It's gonna take us a while to update, right? But this is the update, we are the update.

"As a species we need to update together. Everything's been so divisive, think about when they say diversity, people look at that like it's a good thing but we're the United States of America."

"We're a universe, we're a university, we're a republic."

It feels relevant to point out that former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal recently said he knows what Kanye is currently going through as he 'used to be a narcissist'.

The basketball legend recommended the best way to get past narcissism was to 'humble yourself', though trying to become the most powerful person in the world is probably not the best way to achieve that.

If it's any consolation, Kanye's attempt at running for president is almost certainly doomed to failure so perhaps that will help provide some humility.

The 'Ye24' campaign is unlikely to get the rapper into the White House.

This isn't even the first time the rapper has tried to become president, running for office back in 2020 and even launching an official campaign video.

Some Americans actually voted for him when it came time to make a decision at the ballot box, and in the end, he got about 70,000 votes, a political footnote compared to the tens of millions of votes people cast for Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

However, he ended up forking over about $12.5 million of his own money to fund his presidential campaign, meaning he was spending about $200 on every single voter who cast a ballot for him.

The rapper also blamed his failed presidential campaign for the breakup of his marriage to Kim Kardashian after he told a crowd he wanted to abort his first child, North, but was stopped by divine intervention.
