Elon Musk And Grimes Quietly Welcome Second Child With Bizarre Name

Elon Musk and singer Grimes have welcomed a second child with an unusual name after announcing the birth of their first baby in May 2020.

I think it's safe to say everyone knows about the existence of X Æ A-12 by now, but now the youngster is not the only child of Musk and Grimes to have an unusual name.

The couple were previously reported to have broken up, with Musk himself describing their status as 'probably semi-separated' last Autumn, but Grimes has now explained she would 'probably refer to [Musk] as [her] boyfriend.'

She continued: 'We’re very fluid. We live in separate houses. We’re best friends. We see each other all the time…. We just have our own thing going on, and I don’t expect other people to understand it.'

News of the new baby came to light during an interview with Vanity Fair, when the interviewer heard the unmistakable sound of a baby crying.

Grimes initially appeared to try and ignore the situation, saying: 'I’m not at liberty to speak on these things' before saying: 'Whatever is going on with family stuff, I just feel like kids need to stay out of it, and X (X Æ A-12) is just out there. I mean, I think [Elon] is really seeing him as a protégé and bringing him to everything and stuff.… X is out there. His situation is like that. But, yeah, I don’t know.'

When the crying continued, the singer admitted that she and Musk do in fact have another child - a daughter, who is currently 'a little colicky'. She was born via a surrogate, which together with the pandemic allowed the parents to keep the news secret until the baby revealed herself during the interview.

Grimes explained that while the pair have nicknamed the baby Y, her full name is 'Exa Dark Sideræl Musk'.

It's unclear exactly when she was born, but Grimes indicated that she and Musk don't plan to stop at two children as she said the pair has 'always wanted at least three or four.'

She recalled 'scary' experiences during her pregnancy with X Æ A-12, saying, 'he was pressing on my nerves, so I kept collapsing. I took a few steps and collapsed. It was kind of scary, because you don’t want to fall a lot when you’re eight months pregnant. So I would just crawl to the bathroom and crawl back or whatever.'

As well as X and Y, Musk is also dad to twins Griffin and Xavier Musk and triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian Musk.
