Diddy has had a lot of different monikers over the years but only two people in the world are allowed to call him by his birth name.

After taking the world of hip hop by storm at the beginning of the 1990s, Diddy has gone through several reinventions over the years.

In the last three decades, the rapper and producer has gone by Puffy, Puff Daddy, P. Diddy and most recently, Love.

But the name he rarely goes by is his birth name and out of the eight billion people in the world, only two people are allowed use it – one of people being a fellow hip hop icon with whom he shares his first name.

In case you didn’t know, the New York native’s birth name is Sean Combs and the 53-year-old has declared that only his mother and fellow rapper Jay-Z can address him using that name.

"I was born Puffy and then I become P. Diddy," he shared with James Corden during a recent appearance on the Carpool Karaoke segment of The Late Late Show.

The “I’ll Be Missing You” performer was asked by Corden how he should be addressed while one the show.

He continued: “Then they called me Diddy because I was so pretty and then Puff Daddy and then I became who I am now, which is Love.”

Corden noticed that his guest failed to list Sean among the long list of names and Diddy explained: "Sean is typically used by, you know, my mother. I don't know, when you're in trouble.”

He added that Corden unfortunately wasn’t on the approved list of individuals who can call him Sean.

Combs previously explained how he got the nickname 'Puffy'.

The only other person in the entertainment industry who can is Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter.

“There's only one person, and I call him Shawn, that's Jay-Z," said Diddy.

"We call each other Sean," he added. "Nobody else is allowed to call me Sean. There's not a single person, outside of my mother, that should be calling me Sean."

Diddy has addressed his many name changes over the years and said his first nickname was Puffy.

“I had a temper. That’s why my friend started calling me Puffy,” he told JET Magazine in 1998.

So, unless you are Jay-Z or Diddy’s mother, please avoid calling him Sean.
