Extended version of Ben Affleck Super Bowl commercial has fans saying it's Oscar worthy

Extended version of Ben Affleck Super Bowl commercial has fans saying it's Oscar worthy

Ben Affleck has sent fans into overdrive with his hilariously bizarre acting in the extended edition of the Dunkin' Super Bowl ad.

Ben Affleck’s initial Dunkin’ Super Bowl ad received praise, but the extended edition has fans losing their minds.

Designing a brilliant Super Bowl commercial is likely a daunting task.

You not only need to create marketing that people remember, but also make sure they are informed about a product and don’t get too annoyed or offended by.

It's a big ask.

But the team behind Dunkin’ - formerly Dunkin’ Donuts’ - ad seemed to hit the money with a short story about actor Ben Affleck crashing his wife, Jennifer Lopez’s, recording session to create his own hit rap song.

To be frank, Ben Affleck’s ad was both nonsensical and hilarious.

To be frank it was both nonsensical and hilarious. With cameos from Matt Damon, Tom Brady, Jack Harlow and Fat Joe, the bizarreness of it seemed to work.

Promoting the company itself, which has its origins in Quincy, Massachusetts, it also promoted its DunKings Menu and the drink named after the actor, The DunKings Iced Coffee.

However, following the Super Bowl, Dunkin’ has released the extended edition of the advert.

A 4-minute version of the commercial is even more ridiculous to the point that some on social media have claimed it is Oscar worthy, or Oscah-worthy if you fancy adding Affleck’s iconic Boston twang.

In the extended version, Affleck appears to reflect on the online attitude towards him, that he looks bored and never smiles.

According to the actor, ‘I’m not bored. I’m locked in,’ which is just one of the notable quotes from the extended version.

Other lines include his take on his first song recording before showing it off: “This is rough, but it’s also finished.”

He also is forced to explain to an influencer why he is more than Jennifer Lopez’s husband and said: “I do some acting and writing and directing of movies which are a long form of entertainment that were popular in the 20th century.”

One X user praised it by saying: “There’s a 4 minute Affleck cut of the Dunkin commercial, It’s glorious. Oscar-bait.”

Others seemed to agree and added: ”I’ve watched this video 100 times and every time I see something new, I’m obsessed with this commercial. Ben Affleck - The boredest man in the world.”

Designing a brilliant Super Bowl commercial is likely a daunting task but fans loved the Dunkin’ ad.

“Why do I continue to both watch and laugh at this commercial. It's pure gold,” another added.

“They must have had a blast doing this. Affleck has to love the humble brag of being Jennifer Lopez's husband. It's the whole underpinning of the ad which is a love letter to her AND Dunkin,” added another.

While many might just find it a touch too cringe, it is still nice to see some people have fun with their advertisements.
