Aubrey Plaza had a stroke when she was 20 and her friends thought she was joking

The Parks and Recreation star explained what happened

Aubrey Plaza once had a stroke but her friends thought she was joking.

Speaking to David Letterman, the actor explained that she was hit with a stroke when she was jut 20 years old but her friends didn't believe she was telling the truth.

She said: "I had a stroke when I was 20. It was kind of a freak thing.

"The right side of my body stopped working, I looked down at my arm and I was like: 'Whose arm is that? It's not connected to my body.' I wasn't able to talk, I had expressive aphasia for the next couple days.

"My friends actually thought I was kidding because I was always doing weird jokes and they were like: 'Cut it out!'."

The Parks and Recreation star went on to explain that her stroke almost ended up landing her then-boyfriend in hot water as there were some words she couldn't say and some she couldn't stop saying.

Plaza explained: "The weirdest things were coming out, I could say some words like when I was in the hospital they kept asking me how old I was.

"My older, much older boyfriend at the time was there with me kind of fielding these questions from the doctors. And every time they asked me how old I was I would go '16' which was the only number I could say, I don't know why."

"And he would go: 'She's not 16, she's 20', and they would go: 'How old are you?' Yeah."

The actor recently revealed that after starring in movie Emily the Criminal she now knows how to commit credit card fraud.

She explained that she'd put the work in when it came to getting in character and could now make a decent living as a career criminal if she was so inclined.

The star said she couldn't stop telling doctors she was 16 when she was actually 20.

Plaza stressed that despite this newfound knowledge she wasn't about to go out and put her new skills to use by actually committing credit card fraud, though that's exactly what someone about to commit credit card fraud would say.

She learned how to do it thanks to the movie's prop master, who taught her how to make her own fake credit cards.

If this whole acting lark doesn't end up working out, which looks pretty unlikely considering she's a very in-demand star but you never know, at least she's got a side hustle ready to go.

Then again, she did explain that she could have been in Scream 4 but blew the audition by going a bit too method in her acting.
