Anna Faris has spoken candidly about the conversations she has with her teenage son over religion, revealing that their differing beliefs have led to some surprisingly deep discussions.
The Scary Movie film star shares 14-year-old Jack with her ex-husband Chris Pratt, with the former couple welcoming him in 2012, three years after they tied the knot.
Faris and Pratt ultimately announced their separation in 2017 before finalising their divorce the following year, but have continued raising their son together. Whilst Pratt has been open about his Christian faith over the years, Faris has now revealed Jack Pratt has developed religious beliefs of his own — despite her not sharing the same upbringing.
Speaking on Chelsea Handler's Dear Chelsea podcast, spotted by HuffPost UK, the 49-year-old first described Jack as being emotionally ‘solid as a tugboat’ — along with talking about how she's quit drinking, after realizing alcohol was ‘self-sabotage’ for her.

She said: “He just doesn’t get easily jarred. He handles situations really well,” before adding: “He is…religious.”
When Handler asked whether Faris considered herself religious too, the actor explained: “No, I didn’t grow up with religion. He’s asked me to accept Jesus Christ...”
After Handler asked: “As your savior?”, Faris replied: “Uh huh.”
She continued: “I told him I would do anything for him, including this, but it’s gonna take a whole lot of long conversations.”
What’s more, it appears those conversations are already happening, with Faris saying she deliberately asks Jack questions that encourage him to examine some of his beliefs more closely.
Calling her son ‘impressive’, she explained: “I try to challenge him. I’m like, ‘Do you think it’s a luxury that you get to be pro-life?’ [and] He’s like, ‘Maybe.’”
Faris said another topic they have discussed is the behaviour of prominent religious figures.
“Or I’ll say, ‘So, what do you think of this mega pastor that’s kind of a grifter?’ He’s like, ‘Oh, mega pastors are the worst.’ So it’s like, OK…We’re getting there.”

Despite having different perspectives, Faris said she values the fact that the pair can openly discuss religion rather than avoiding the subject altogether.
As reported by BuzzFeed, she said: “I’m appreciative that he’s examining religion the way he is in terms of...starting to recognize hypocrisy”
“I’m appreciative we can have these long conversations.”
Pratt has previously spoken about how Jack's difficult start in life strengthened his own faith.
Jack was born nine weeks premature, with Pratt later recalling turning to God while his son was seriously ill.
Faris has since married cinematographer Michael Barrett, whilst Pratt married Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019 and has gone on to welcome three more children.
