Meta has unveiled its new smart glasses with a feature that lets you silently scroll through social media.

The tech giant has officially lifted the lid on its latest wearable tech - AI smart glasses that can be controlled by brain signals.

The new device, called the Meta Ray-Ban Display, is part of the firm's broader vision to bring 'personal superintelligence' into everyday life.

At the centre of the innovation is a sleek Neural Band, worn on the wrist, which detects tiny electrical impulses in the forearm. These signals - which are produced by subtle hand movements like pinches, swipes, and taps - are picked up using electromyography (EMG), a method that interprets the communication between brain and muscle.

In simple terms, as crazy as it sounds, you can now control your glasses just by thinking about moving your hand.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg called the breakthrough 'huge', explaining that this tech could replace traditional keyboards.

“As profound as the abundance produced by AI may one day be, an even more meaningful impact on our lives will likely come from everyone having a personal superintelligence that helps you achieve your goals, create what you want to see in the world, experience any adventure, be a better friend to those you care about, and grow to become the person you aspire to be,” he said earlier this year.

The glasses themselves offer a phone-like display projected onto the right lens, which only the wearer can see. This allows users to read texts, view images, make video calls, and even get real-time directions - all without touching your phone.

Built-in speakers, a microphone, and a discreet camera round out the hardware, with an LED light on the frame indicating when the camera is in use.

To take the freakiness levels up a notch, Meta has announced it has been working on a feature that will allow the user to handwrite in the air, too.

Meta’s own AI assistant is also integrated into the glasses, capable of answering questions and even generating images or videos on command. Real-time captioning and translation during conversations are also in the pipeline.

So let's talk about how much a pair of these glasses will cost you.

Meta Ray-Ban Display will hit shelves in the US on September 30, with a starting price of $799. For those in the UK, France, Italy and Canada, the launch is expected in early 2026.

This isn’t the only new toy Meta’s rolled out. They’ve also launched the Oakley Meta Vanguard, a 66g smart glasses model built specifically for athletes.

They are designed with a sportier look and feature a camera, built-in audio, a nose grip, and the same AI-powered smarts for use while on the move.
