Experts believe that these 15 jobs are likely to remain safe from the impact of artificial intelligence (AI).

Undeniably, AI is getting more and more advanced as the years go on, so much so that people are concerned that bots could replace their jobs.

Recently, Duolingo sparked some criticism after revealing in an email to employees that AI would be replacing contract workers, with the company's CEO, Luis von Ahn, also revealing his thoughts on using AI within the school environment.

A study published in February by the Pew Search Center revealed that people were increasingly more worried about the use of AI in the workplace than they were hopeful.

Nearly 5,300 US adults were surveyed late last year, and it was found that 52 per cent said they were worried about AI, while 33 per cent said they were overwhelmed.

In contrast, 29 per cent described themselves as excited, and 36 per cent were hopeful.

According to Indeed, jobs like proofreading, telemarketing, data entry and analysis, real estate, and translation are at risk of being replaced by AI.

But it isn't all bad news, as it's said that there are still several jobs that bots won't be able to do instead of humans. AI will still be kind of involved, however...

AI-centered jobs

It will probably come as no surprise that roles revolving around AI won't go extinct.

As per Forbes, these types of jobs include software developers, data scientists, machine learning engineers, cybersecurity engineers, and AI agent managers.

AI-powered jobs

Forbes suggests that those who embrace AI and collaborate with it, rather than fearing it, are likely to survive a potential technological takeover.

"These are roles that require high levels of specialist expertise, a personal touch, or specifically demand in-person interaction with an actual human." the publication explained.

"They also tend to be more creative and require human decision-making or insight," it added.

These roles include:

  1. Registered nurses
  2. Choreographers
  3. Paramedics
  4. Mental health specialists and counselors
  5. Teachers: from K-12 and further, higher education teachers, instructors, and professors
  6. Civil engineers
  7. Surgeons
  8. Project managers
  9. Operations directors and managers
  10. Musicians
  11. Journalists

Elsewhere, Bill Gates has suggested that three other jobs will survive AI.

The tech mogul believes that coders are safe from being replaced because, while AI is capable of creating codes, humans would still need to monitor it and fix mistakes and bugs.

He also implied that AI doesn't easily replace energy experts. As it stands, this role is too complicated for bots to comprehend (for now).

Gates said biologists will still be needed as well. Yes, AI is already used in the medical profession, but AI supposedly lacks the creativity to make new scientific discoveries.

"Biologists play a critical role in human development and medical discovery," said Gates. "Even with AI assistance, forming hypotheses and making conceptual breakthroughs is still a deeply human endeavour."
