Who knew what a 'great journey' it could be to watch an iPod stopwatch tick over?

If you ever lay awake at night, desperately trying to go to sleep but your mind is plagued with random questions, concerns and thoughts such as what could possibly happen when an iPod stopwatch ticks from 9,999 hours and 59 seconds to 10,000 hours then fear not, the internet has, once again, come to the rescue.

A YouTuber from Melbourne, Australia, who goes by Streaming Andrew took to the platform to reveal he started the stopwatch on his iPod 416 days previously.

The stopwatch had since reached 9,999 hours 59 minutes and 47 seconds.

But what happens when it clocks over to 10,000 hours?

What do you think will happen? (YouTube/ Streaming Andrew)

Well, as Streaming Andrew perfectly sums up: "Oh, alright, well that was pretty uneventful.

"I suppose I'll have to wait until 99,999 hours now huh?"

"What you can't hear are the shear screams of disappointment in his head, but it's cool!" Another YouTuber commented.

A second said: "That was the best disappointment ever."

However, Streaming Andrew wasn't backing out of the test anytime soon, having come too far to turn back so he waited for the iPod to reach a whopping 99,999 hours and uploaded another video to his page to reveal what happened when the stopwatch ticked over to 100,000 hours.

Imagine the charging power that went into that, although, it's certainly impressive the iPod survived that long too.

After a staggering 4,166 days - yes, that is indeed about 11 years, four months and 26 days ago - Streaming Andrew uploaded another clip to his page focusing on the iPod. Drum roll please.

Alas, again, nothing miraculous happens, the text getting a bit smaller to just fit in the extra digits.

Although, Streaming Andrew's dog Cassie makes both videos more than worth it.

And it's not taken long for people to flood to the comments and weigh in.

One YouTube user said: "Pass this iPod down to your children. The legacy must live on."

"This should be in this year’s YouTube Rewind. So much dedication!" Another added.

A third commented: "The last time we will all ever see the official stopwatch go over to a new digit. What a great journey."

"Call Guiness book of world records somebody. This guy deserves it," a fourth wrote.

"Breathtaking, worth the 10 years of waiting," a fifth said.

And a sixth resolved: "Now let’s wait 107 years for 1 million!!!!"
