A dad has issued a warning to other parents after his son placed a whopping $1,000 Amazon order through Alexa.

The voice recognition device has become a staple in many households in the last few years, with families using it for a variety of different reasons, from playing music to asking about the weather.

Alexa does allow users to make Amazon purchases, certainly a lot easier than going onto the site yourself on a mobile device.

However, that handy convenience turned into a nightmare for one dad after his son spent a lot of money on toys on Amazon, including 12 water slides and 45 - yep 45 - Spider-Man walkie talkies.

He shares the ups and downs of family life with his children and wife, though this recent incident has left many on the internet on hysterics.

In a viral video, which has been viewed more than 2.6 million times, the dad reminded parents to disable voice purchases on the Alexa app.

He said: "My five-year-old ordered almost $1,000 worth of toys on Amazon this morning. He even ordered a $500 hot tub."

The dad then played a clip of his young son telling Alexa to order numerous items, with the boy saying at one point: "Alexa, get me a monster truck that jumps 23 inches off the ground."

He then asked for: "45 Spider Man walkie-talkies, a little hot tub, 112 water slides, and a rocket ship that goes 45 feet off the ground."

Topping off the mammoth order, the young lad ordered 'a loopy loop race car track remote cars' and a 'lazy river at 45 feet around'.

Finishing off the TikTok, Tucker issued a warning to parents who have an Alexa or two in their homes.

He said: "Parents make sure to disable voice purchases on your Alexa app so this doesn't happen to you."

Thousands of people have flocked to the comment section of the TikTok to react to the hilarious incident.

"Alexa was sweating after that tall order," one person joked.

A second added: "Lazy river? waterslides? walkie talkies? he was trying to make his own water park😭 even had a way to communicate with staff."

Meanwhile, another recalled a similar incident, writing: "My grandson put over $3000 worth of toys in my cart on Amazon.

"Luckily he didn’t check out. About a week later he asked where his order was."
