President Joe Biden’s sister Valerie Biden Owens believes Meghan Markle would make a good presidential candidate and urged the Duchess to run as part of the Democratic Party.

In an interview with Good Morning Britain, Biden Owens made the invitation to the Suits star.

She said: “It’s wonderful to have women in politics.

“The more women we have, the better our democratic system will work, with a better point of view, a different point of view and we embrace all women.

“We welcome [Meghan] to come in and join the Democratic Party.”

While Biden Owens might be campaigning for Markle to take up a political career she fully expects her brother, the 46th US President to run for reelection in 2024.

After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the decision to leave the Royal Family in March 2020, rumours swirled that Markle could be making a move into politics.

Investigative journalist Tom Bower is writing an unauthorised biography on the Duchess of Sussex and believes she is biding her time before she launches a bid to become US President.

Speaking to Closer Magazine, the biographer said: "The prospect of Meghan running for president is possible and I'd even say likely. I really believe it's where she sees herself going."

He added that she has all the makings to be a strong candidate for the White House, despite not having a single bit of political experience.

Valerie Biden Owens agrees, when asked by Good Morning Britain if Markle would one day ‘make a good presidential candidate,’ she replied: “Yes, perhaps. Of course, she will.”

Markle and her husband Prince Harry have been living in the United States with their children Archie and Lilibet since stepping back from their roles as members of the Royal Family.

Meghan already has somewhat of a political history as well.

In September 2020, Meghan and Harry were accused of ‘interfering’ in the 2020 presidential election by Republican lawmaker Jason Smith.

The couple was part of a video for Time 100, where they encouraged Americans to register to vote in the election, while also warning against hate speech and misinformation.

Republican Smith tweeted: “Prince Harry and Megan Markle are using foreign titles to campaign against President Trump and interfere with our election. Today, I asked the British Government to put a stop to it.”

Former POTUS Donald Trump has also been quite outspoken in his dislike for the Duchess of Sussex.

In a recent interview on Piers Morgan’s Uncensored show, he claimed that Prince Harry was ‘whipped’ by Megan Markle.

He said: “I’m not a fan of Meghan, and I wasn’t from the beginning. Poor Harry is being led around by his nose. And I think he’s an embarrassment.”

Who knows, we could see Trump and his MAGA crew take on the Duchess for the presidency in 2024.
