Idaho Republicans Are So Pro-Life That They'll Let A Woman Die Before She Gets An Abortion

Republicans in the US state voted against allowing exceptions for abortions in the case of rape, incest, or to save a mother's life.

Idaho Republicans have voted to reject an amendment that would have granted an exception to the anti-abortion law if the mother’s life was in ‘lethal danger’.

You really have to question whether these politicians understand the definition of ‘pro-life’.

Delegates at the Idaho party convention in Twin Falls voted 412-164 against allowing exceptions for abortions in the case of rape, incest, or to save the mother’s life, according to Idaho Reports.

In the wake of the US Supreme Court overturning the original Roe v. Wade ruling, there was language in place to protect mothers in such extreme cases.

However, Republican politician Scott Herndon proposed adding language that criminalises all abortions in the state regardless of circumstance.

The platform stated: “We affirm that abortion is murder from the moment of fertilisation.

"All children should be protected regardless of the circumstances of conception, including persons conceived in rape and incest."

Herndon argued that giving exceptions to have an abortion would undermine the ‘pro-life’ fight that many conservatives have been fighting for 50 years since Roe v. Wade.

Herndon told delegates, according to the Idaho Capital Sun: “For the last 49 years we have essentially lost the argument in the culture because we have focused on abortion as the termination of a pregnancy and not the termination of a living human being.

"We will never win this human rights issue, the greatest of our time, if we make allowances for the intentional killing of another human being."

Unless, of course, a gun was involved in the killing, then they’ll make sure to make the allowances they need to.

Just to understand completely the type of person Scott Herndon is, it must be noted that he took to Facebook last month to beg the possibility that people would lie about being raped in order to get an abortion.

He said: “You don't put to death the innocent child for the crime of its father, but that's what this law would allow.”

Adding: “If a mother really wants to kill her child, she could lie, say she was raped, file a police report and go get her child killed in the state of Idaho and nobody would be prosecuted."

In the same convention, the party also added a section to ensure parents would teach their children about their gender assigned at birth, and ensure it is an essential characteristic of their identity.

The language stated: “We call upon parents, responsible citizens, and officers of government to promote measures that respect and protect the biological gender of children.

“We strongly oppose any person, entity or policy that attempts to confuse minors regarding their biological gender.”

So essentially, they’re pro-life as long as that life is up to their standard.
