A report has broken down some of the safer nations to reside in should the worst happen and World War Three was to break out.

International political tensions have certainly been high in recent years and this has naturally sparked fears that World War 3 could be soon on the cards.

A world war conflict isn’t necessarily including every nation in the world (we hope), but in most scenarios includes big global powers like the United States, China, Russia, or nations in NATO, fighting one another.

And due to the many advancements of technology, nuclear weapons coming into play if a major conflict like this breaking out, is certainly something that many people are fearful for.

A news.com.au report has put together a list of nations that may act as a safe haven for one reason or another.

The list was created by weighing up data from the Global Peace Index which includes, geography, military alignment, neutrality, distance from likely targets, civil-defense infrastructure (e.g. shelters), and basic resilience like food/energy.

However, with that said, no one has a crystal ball - so maybe don't go booking your tickets just yet.

In no particular order, the countries included are:

Switzerland

Switzerland has a history of military neutrality, and its mountainous terrain makes it difficult for a land invasion.

As well as this, the country is very prepared should the nukes start flying as they have more bunker space than people and filtration and power systems available in short notice.

Iceland

Another nation that has no standing army and few critical targets outside of aviation routes.

It has a strong renewable energy sector and is able to take full of advantage of its volcanic landscape for its own benefit. So much so, it can almost entirely be powered by its geothermal and hydro-electric resources.

Argentina

Argentina is pretty far away from the tension of the European, North American and Asian continent, which could come in handy. In addition to this, its vast farmland means it will likely have good food security if global trade falls apart.

Madagascar

A massive nation and somewhat remote as it isn’t physically attached to the continent of Africa. This natural separation makes it less appealing for a mass conflict and its limited infrastructure reduces its strategic appeal.

Paraguay

Another nation that has minimal strategic value but has an abundant agriculture industry meaning it could be self-sustained.

Mongolia

You would assume being wedged between Russia and China might prove problematic during a massive conflict, but Mongolia holds little strategic value and remains a massively self-sufficient nomadic nation.

Fiji

Thousands of miles away from Australia, Fiji is pretty remote and holds virtually no war-time value. It has its own infrastructure, and food resources making it remote but still liveable - should the worst occur.

New Zealand

A very small population over a lot of agricultural rich land makes New Zealand a great pick. It is also very remote and makes it a low-priority target and another nation that can be self-sufficient when it comes to food.

There are still many nations that are perfectly safe to stay should a war break out, so might be worth having a look out for them, just incase any of these nations get called out for World War 3.
