3D simulation shows exactly who is faster out of Usain Bolt and Noah Lyles over three different races

You might not be entirely surprised by the result...

A 3D simulation has shown what would happen if world record holder Usain Bolt and Olympic champion Noah Lyles went head-to-head.

Celebrated Jamaican athlete Bolt is considered the fastest runner in the world, holding record times for the 100m, 150m and 200m races, all set in 2009.

Meanwhile Team USA's Lyles made headlines this week after he narrowly beat 19-year-old YouTuber IShowSpeed in video which has since been viewed millions of times.

Clips posted to Twitter show Speed, Darren Watkins Jr, taking on Lyles in a 50m sprint for $100,000 - and it was a surprisingly close call.

The athlete won by only a small margin, with fans calling for Speed to start training professionally.

After the race, Speed did claim it was a draw before being shown proof he did in fact lose.

Lyles even twisted the knife a little bit more by stating he started high-stepping after taking the lead towards the end.

Elsewhere, Lyles beat Jamaica's Kishane Thompson by the finest of margins to secure gold in the men's 100m final at this summer's Olympics.

He clocked a time of 9.79 seconds at the Paris Games just months ago.

Meanwhile, Bolt has won Olympic gold in the 100m event in Beijing, London and Rio de Janeiro.

He recorded his best 100m time at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, which remains a world record.

But how would he fare against his American counterpart?

Well, a 3D simulation from Motion Athlete can answer that question for us.

The video, posted to YouTube, shows Bolt racing Lyles in three different races.

The simulation begins with a 100m race that is won by Bolt, who clears with 9.58 seconds to Lyle's projected 9.79 seconds.

The second simulated race has Lyles beginning the race with a head start. Despite the advantage, Bolt still won the race.

And the final simulated race, which is ran over 200m, has Bolt pipping Lyles to the finish line.

Bolt ends in 19.19 seconds while Lyles clocks up 19.31 seconds.

Maybe Speed should take on Bolt next - or would that be too humbling? Your call, Speed...
