For many people, a cruise is a good way to get away from it all for a couple of weeks.

But one voyage has taken things to a whole other level, with the ship setting off for a whopping three and a half years.

And yes, some passengers will be able to join the cruise for the entire voyage.

However, this option is not available to everyone, you need to have actually purchased a cabin on the ship if you want to stay for the entire three and a half year run.

Yes, apparently you can actually purchase a cabin on a cruise ship.

And in this case it will set you back from $100,000 for an interior stateroom to $250,000 if you want a room with a balcony.

If that already has you sweating then rest assured that even after you have bought your cabin you will still be faced with charges of around $3,500 per month while cruising.

An interior cabin can be yours for $100,000.

So, if you want to cruise around the world in a room with a sea view, you'll be looking at around $397k for the privilege.

People who own cabins on the ship can also lease them or sell them later down the line.

15 percent of the 630 cabins on board the vessel can be purchased in this way.

As for the remaining 85 percent, these can be leased on a 'pay as you go' basis, and start at around $4,360 for the crossing from Barcelona to West Palm Beach in Florida, lasting 35 days.

If you don't purchase a cabin, you can book a cruise lasting up to 120 days. Any longer, and you need to buy one.

Like many cruise ships, there will be a pools, live entertainment, and several options for dining.

There are also cabins with a balcony over the sea.

There are even facilities which allow users to work while on the ship, including a business centre and offices with Wi-Fi.

At any one time, there are expected to be between 800 and 900 guests on board the ship.

As for the voyage itself, this will start in Southampton in the UK. It will then spend 87 days in northern Europe, 105 days in North America, 68 days in Africa, and 76 days in South Asia.

The Villa Vie Residences ship is set to embark on the long journey in May 2024, meaning it will conclude its long voyage at the end of 2027.
