A Russian official has given a very bleak outlook on world conflict should America acquire Greenland.
Donald Trump is currently trying to buy Greenland for what he says will benefit American national security, but the Danish territory has insisted that it's not for sale.
Denmark held 'frank' talks with JD Vance yesterday (January 14) in Washington DC, where the Danish foreign minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, insisted that it wasn't necessary for the US to take over Greenland.
Speaking after the discussions, Rasmussen said, per The Guardian: "We didn’t manage to change the American position. It’s clear that the president has this wish of conquering Greenland. And we made it very, very clear that this is not in the interest of the kingdom."

As well as Greenland not wanting to be bought, the likes of Russia and China desperately don't want Trump's plans to come into fruition — with one Russian official going as far as saying that it could be 'the beginning of the end of the world'.

Dmitry Rogozin, a former deputy prime minister, ex-head of the Russian Space Agency, and once the Kremlin’s representative at NATO headquarters in Brussels, is a Russian senator and has shared some very worrying thoughts on it all.
He believes that America's plans to acquire Greenland are linked to a scheme for a 'Golden Dome' missile defence system 'in which space, AI, and a layered architecture merge into a single system'.

Rogozin further explained: "Orbital sensors, ground interceptors, decision-making algorithms — all this requires advantageous geography. Greenland, with its Arctic position, proximity to Russia, and convenience for northern ICBM trajectories, fits perfectly into this architecture."

He doesn't believe Trump is acting erratically though, he's just 'fulfilling the Pentagon's will — to stop negotiating with European allies and wiping their noses, to seize Greenland by force and turn it into a platform for deploying means of both nuclear attack and missile defence interception of Russian ICBMs'.
"This is the dismantling of the entire system of strategic stability in the world that has prevented the use of nuclear weapons since 1945," Rogozin added.

Rogozin also thinks that America will be under the impression that it has the upper hand when it comes to nuclear warfare should it takeover Greenland, but he insists that's not the case.

He warned: "This is the problem: the US, led by an eccentric, may convince themselves that, finally, thanks to the annexation of Greenland and the deployment there of components of the command and control system for strategic offensive weapons, they have achieved nuclear superiority over Russia and China... This will be the beginning of the end of the world."
Rogozin says the Arctic will play a huge part in any potential nuclear war between the US and America.

"The Arctic is the fastest route for delivering nuclear warheads by missiles from the US to Russia and from Russia to the US," he explained.
"Moreover, not only intercontinental ballistic missiles but primarily cruise missiles from multipurpose nuclear submarines.
"Arctic ice is mobile, and its thickness is not an obstacle for the surfacing of nuclear submarines. In the event of a thermonuclear conflict, the exchange of strikes will occur precisely over the Arctic."
