Archaeologists have found a Simpsons look-a-like on a 3,000-year-old Egyptian coffin.

We've all watched The Simpsons haven't we? But we don't typically expect it to overlap into the wonderful history of Egypt.

One of the most iconic characters from the popular animation is Marge Simpson - who appears to have a doppelganger from ancient Egyptian times.

Coffin lids during the New Kingdom era are known for their intricate designs, but many on social media have noticed something with one particular coffin.

Dr. Mustafa Waziri, secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt, has detailed work that took place last year involving these ancient tombs.

Archaeologists believe the tombs - found in an ancient cemetery in Minya, Egypt - were for senior officials and priests in a 3,500-year-old cemetery from the New Kingdom.

Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said in a press release that there were amulets, ornaments, as well as stone and wooden coffins with the mummies.

As for the legacy this age left, it's known as the 'Golden age', according to TheArchaeologist.org.

The discovery of the mummy's coffin was announced nine months ago, but it's recently gone viral thanks to social media.

But why is that? Well, all because of The Simpsons.

The upper lid of the coffin has an image of a yellow-hued woman wearing a green dress with an extremely tall blue crown.

Sound familiar? Well, it certainly resembles Marge Simpson's outsized blue hair and her strapless green outfit.

A photo of the coffin has recently been posted to Reddit, and everyone is saying the same thing.

"Egypt predicted Simpsons," one person joked.

"Marge?" another jokingly asked while a third remarked: "Tell me that’s not Marge Simpson."

And a fourth had this assumption: "Egyptians and Greeks were neighbors so it’s not too crazy that she married Homer."

Coffins from the New Kingdom usually had lids with carvings and paintings depicting the dead, deities and scenes from the Book of the Dead.

"Such discoveries are crucial for historians and archaeologists in reconstructing the timeline of the 20th Dynasty, understanding the socio-economic conditions, and the cultural and religious practices of the period," a blog post detailed.

The Egyptian Gazette reports that the coffin belonged to Tadi Ist, daughter of the High Priest of Djehouti in Ashmunein.

The mummified person appeared to have a mask and a beaded dress laid on top of her corpse.

“It is a rare and important scene ever. Every scene of the hour has its shape,” the Supreme Council of Antiquities Secretary General Mostafa Waziry told the outlet.
