Travelers who attempt to get a head start ahead of other people on a plane could be in for a rude awakening.

Travelling by air can often prove to be quite a hassle, let’s be honest.

There are common issues that can occur like long lines, poor service, or delayed flights that can make the whole experience just a slog.

But these annoyances aren’t just confined to the airport, as there are plenty of things that can bug you when you get on the aircraft.

But it seems Turkey are trying to stamp out an annoying practice you have likely seen when your plane arrives at its destination, or worse, that you have been a part of.

Consider this your warning, because next time you try and fly through Turkey they won't be shy about fining you if they catch you doing this.

So what is the practice they are trying to outlaw?

Well, you know those people who get up out of their seats, try and grab their luggage and crowd up the walkway before the plane has even stopped moving... yeah this is directed firmly at those jokers.

The Turkish Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Kemal Yüksek, has given instructions for cabin crews on how to penalize travellers that do this.

He said that passengers who do not ‘respect the disembarkation priority of the passengers in front of or around you’ will be reported to the authorities and ‘an administrative fine will be imposed in accordance with the applicable legal regulations’.

For passengers that do not comply, according to a Washington Post report, fines could be up to 2,603 Turkish lira, or about $67.

The directive specifically highlighted the issue of unfastening seat belts, standing up, opening the overhead compartments or crowding the aisle while the plane is still taxiing to the gate.

However, it also noted their could be penalizations for those who stand up and proceed into the aisle before the row’s turn to exit.

Yüksek noted that there has been a significant increase in reports of such behavior, which risks 'passenger and baggage safety and security' and disregards 'the satisfaction and exit priority' of other passengers.

So it is probably best to just sit back, relax, and wait until your row is being called to get up and exit the plane or risk a rather pointless expense before you’ve even touched foot in the country.
