Valkyrie The Human-Faced Cat Is Making People Very Uncomfortable

An owner who breeds cats to have human-like faces has received a very mixed response from social media users.

An owner who breeds cats to have human-like faces has received a very mixed response from social media users.

While calls for a crackdown could limit the different breeds of dog pet owners can choose from, Tatiana Rastorgueva has been working on a completely different-looking type of cat.

Rather than having particularly squashed up little faces or short muzzles, Tatiana's cats are bred to have more 'definite' features, similar to those of humans.

However, not everyone is convinced.

One of Tatiana's cats in particular, named Valkyrie, has left social media users very divided.

I have to admit, I was expecting something a bit more strikingly human. Something a little more like the Grinch; a human, but with lots more hair, although perhaps not green.

However, Valkyrie's expression indeed looks like the one which is often painted over many of my co-worker's faces by the time we make it all the way to Friday afternoon.

Tatiana's Instagram page, CatsVill County, dedicated to her cats has racked up an impressive following of over 100,000.

The page showcases all of her specially bred kittens, a grid of furrowed brows and slightly serious, human-like expressions staring back at you as you flick onto the page.

Photographs of Valkyrie have also been shared onto Twitter.

The post may call the specially bred cat 'adorable,' but not all social media users agreed, with many flocking to the comments to brand the cat 'disturbing'.

Another simply didn't know what to make of it all. "That’s weird... interesting... but weird," they said.

"I CAN TELL BY HIS EXPRESSION THAT HE'S CONTEMPLATING..." a third said.

A final resolved: "They look like characters from Cats, but they are real!"

While the cats' facial expressions have been dubbed as closely resembling those of humans, Tatiana told the Daily Mail how the cats are also 'sometimes' compared to 'werewolves'.

She continued: "Every breeder has [their] own ideal of the cat - the cat he or she finally wants to get.

"I have been working on my dream for a long time. For 16 years I have been working with this breed to get some definite characters and now I am very close to my target.

"However, it is still not exactly what I want. I hope soon to show the world an even cooler type of Maine Coon."

Basically, if you're undecided between wanting a pet and a baby then Tatiana's cats appear to offer the perfect solution.
