Teacher suddenly quits after giving strong warning to parents on what's ruining children's education

There are certain specific 'challenges' which led her to quit after three years

An English teacher has spoken out online about how one aspect of 'technology' is really 'ruining' children's 'education', quitting role after three years.

Hannah used to work in digital marketing before going into teaching, however, after three years in the education industry, she quit.

Why? Well, because the dismay she was feeling is that teaching is not as fulfilling as a result of the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) and children using it as a cop out from doing proper work and learning.

The former teacher took to TikTok in a since-deleted video, which garnered over a million views.

She said: "A lot of these kids don't know how to read because they have had things read to them or they can click a button and have something read out loud to them.

She continued: "I just don't think these kids even care, they don't care about making a difference in the world, they don't care about how to write a resume, how to write a cover letter, because Chat GPT will do it for them.

"I think we need to cut off technology from these kids probably until they go to college."

In an interview with Fox News, Hannah doubled down on points made during her nine-minute video, explaining in more detail her experiences using technology within teaching across her three years - from digital arts class and English.

Hannah reflected all use of technology within teaching proved 'challenging'.

"And with AI becoming accessible to children nowadays, especially teaching in an English or Core-Four classroom it's been especially challenging - to have the kids comprehend, critical think and think for themselves on certain things.

"On my way out I want to raise awareness and let people know how AI and technology is affecting children these days," she added.

Not dismissing some 'very bright and motivated' kids she taught, Hannah noted she'd ask students to write down a short response or 'five sentences to answer question' and 'a lot of the time' after a few sentences, some students would then just resort to AI to help fill the rest out.

Some students would also tackle long form essays but some would turn out to be '100 percent Chat GPT' - with the teacher running the essay through software which can identify whether it's original or not.

Hannah resolved: "A lot of them are feeling they just don't really need to do the work anymore because AI will do it for them.

"I think that AI can be in a classroom in a very effective way if we teach children in the older grades how to use it properly, but if we're allowing them unlimited access in the classroom to use AI they're not going to do the work themselves."

Some, however, have said there are more potential pros to AI use in education with another professor speaking out in support of it.

Other potential pros of artificial intelligence use in education

Assistant professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Education Ying Xu said: "There is the excitement that AI has the potential for personalized learning and to help students develop skills for this AI-driven society."

For example, an AI pausing during the reading off a picture book to a child and asking questions and hints just like a teacher would, helping the child understand the story better and learn more vocabulary.

However, Xu did acknowledge the potential for misinformation via AI and the need to safeguard children and educate them out to use it properly.

She resolved: "But like many of you, I share the same concerns about the outlook of this, what we call the 'AI generation."
