Bill Stevenson, the ex-husband of former First Lady Jill Biden, has formally been charged with the murder of his second wife.
Linda Stevenson, Bill’s wife of over 30 years, was found dead at her home in Delaware on December 28 after police responded to reports of an alleged ‘domestic dispute.’
Upon entering the home, officers located Linda unresponsive in the living room and immediately began to perform CPR, however despite their best efforts, she was sadly declared dead at the scene.
The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Unit, who began looking into the circumstances which led to Linda’s tragic death, but they didn't release a cause or any suspects at the time.

Linda’s family also released an obituary for the beloved mother, which fondly remembered her life, however notably made no mention of her husband.
The obituary listed her daughter Christina and granddaughter Ciara.

"Linda was deeply family-oriented and treasured time spent making memories, especially on family vacations with her daughter and granddaughter," the obituary read.
"Within the last five years, she proudly founded BMB Bookkeeping, a business she built with determination, integrity, and heart. She loved her work and truly cared for her clients, many of whom became friends."
Her loved ones also remembered her as ‘tenacious, kind-hearted, and fiercely loyal’ whose ‘absence will be felt deeply by all who knew her.’
After a month of investigating behind the scenes, with little in the way of developments being made public, Bill Stevenson was arrested on February 2 and formally charged with Linda’s murder.
He was indicted on a first-degree murder charge and taken into custody without incident from his home.
He is currently being held at at the Howard Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $500,000 bail.
Following the 2024 repeal of the death penalty in Delaware, if found guilty, Stevenson will face a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of probation, parole, or any other reduction.

Bill and Linda tied the knot back in 1986, around a decade after his first marriage to Dr Jill Biden ended in divorce after just five years.
Reflecting on his divorce, he told the Daily Mail in August 2020: "I'm not bitter because, if it wasn't for my divorce, I would never have met my wife Linda and she's the greatest thing in my life.”
Bill previously accused his ex-wife of having an affair with the future president Joe Biden while the pair were still married, having claimed repeatedly that Jill grew close to Joe in 1972 while working on his first campaign to represent Delaware in the US Senate.
This is the same year that Biden’s first wife, Neilia, and his infant daughter were killed in a car accident.
Bill said he first suspected the affair in 1974; however, the Bidens have always disputed this and stated multiple times that they met on a blind date in 1975 while both were single.
