Child of man who killed his son's rapist live on TV reveals shocking new details about the murder

Jeffrey Doucet never faced the courts after 'kidnapping and raping' Gary Plauché's son

The child of a man who killed an individual that 'raped and kidnapped' his son has revealed a new detail about the murder some 40 years later.

Then-elementary school student Jody Plauché was subjected to years of grooming and sexual abuse from his karate teacher, Jeffrey Doucet, back in the 1980s.

Doucet kidnapped the child in February 1984, taking Jody to a motel in Anaheim, California.

The student was missing for two weeks before police tracked him and Doucet down after his abuser allowed Jody to call his mother from the motel he was being held at.

Jody was reunited with his family while Doucet was placed in police custody, with the latter being transported back to Louisiana to face trial for his alleged crimes.

However, the karate teacher never faced court.

When he arrived at Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, he was shot in the head and died the following day.

Jody's father, Gary Plauché, was the one who pulled the trigger on Doucet after the suspect's arrival was being filmed by local news channel WBRZ.

Gary was in the area wearing a cap and pretending to be on the phone as the camera crew then caught the moment the father fired at Doucet.

Mikey Plauche, Gary's son and Jody's brother, took to Twitter over the weekend to reveal a new detail about the murder.

Mikey wrote: "The cool thing about that is my father. My brother was the one kidnapped, but my father used to work for the same TV station.

"He was cameraman so he knew when the camera came on he followed the light from the camera so he just followed the light that’s when he knew when to turn around and shoot."

While Gary was responsible for the criminal's death, he never actually spent any time behind bars.

The father had initially been charged with second-degree murder, but he agreed to a plea deal which saw him plead no contest to manslaughter.

Gary received a suspended sentence of seven years, alongside five years of probation and 300 hours of community service.

When asked about the killing while appearing in an ESPN special report, Gary insisted that he would commit the murder again and had no regrets over what happened.

Jody opened up on how he's doing following his traumatic experience as a child in an interview with the Mirror last year.

"I wouldn't trade my life," he told the publication. "Knowing how it turned out, I wouldn't trade it in for anything."
