News host Jesse Watters has come under fire for his remarks about husbands helping with this mundane task.

In the wake of Donald Trump returning to office on Monday (January 20), all eyes have been on former Vice President Kamala Harris, who went up against Trump in the 2024 election.

She's since jetted back to her home in Los Angeles and has been spending time with her husband Doug Emhoff.

And yesterday, the married couple of 10 years were spotted doing a bit of grocery shopping at the 99 Ranch Market.

Their outing was reported on by Fox News' Jesse Watters, and what he said about them has ruffled a few people's feathers.

He asked his viewers: "What kind of husband goes grocery shopping with his wife?"

Taking to Twitter, people voiced their own opinions of Watters' remarks.

One person responded to the host's question: "A normal one?"

Someone else wrote: "My husband comes shopping with me. I feel more comfortable and safe when I’m out and he’s there. He likes making me feel comfortable and safe."

A third added: "As a retired couple we now grocery shop together and it’s fun!

"Jesse, this question is why you don't have a wife," someone else suggested in response to the TV host's controversial query.

A different person wondered: "My wife I shop together, frequently! So what is Watters’ issue?"

Dozens of others dubbed it as 'normal' for couples to go shopping with each other and that it shouldn't be purely left down to a wife to do on her own.

In fact, in a 2023 survey it was found that 56 percent of American men dubbed themselves as the primary shopper in their household, Statista reports.

Men in the UK seemingly need to catch up though, as it was reported in 2020 that only 26 percent of male participants in one study said they did all or most of the food shopping.

It's not uncommon for Watters to make questionable remarks on television.

Last year, he suggested that music superstar Taylor Swift was some kind of 'asset' to Pentagon — which the Department of Defense went on to deny.

Watters said of Swift at the time: "She's all right, but I mean, have you ever wondered why or how she blew up like this?

"Well, around four years ago, the Pentagon psychological operations unit floated turning Taylor Swift into an asset during a NATO meeting. What kind of asset? A psy-op for combatting online misinformation."

Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh went on to address Watters claims and said (while giving the nod to one of Swift's biggest songs): "As for this conspiracy theory, we are going to shake it off."
