AI creates what the 'ideal boyfriend' looks like in each US state according to experts

Artificial Intelligence has revealed what each state's 'ideal boyfriend' looks like.

Artificial Intelligence has revealed what each state's 'ideal boyfriend' looks like.

Over 2,100 Americans who are attracted to men across 44 states were surveyed by retail company Shane Co from 18 July to 15 August 2023 to figure out what physical attributes their 'ideal boyfriend' has.

Those surveyed were asked for preferences such as whether their preferred boyfriend would wear glasses, have tattoos, what colour hair they'd have, hair style, eye colour and also fashion style.

The images were then - as everything is these days - generated by artificial technology (AI).

Not much has managed to escape the power of AI, and boyfriends are next to be targeted, but are each states' stereotypes what you'd expect?

Let's start with city where dreams are made of - New York.

Although, in reality, what is the likelihood of any of us finding someone who looks anywhere near similar to this half dreamt up and then AI-generated image of an 'ideal boyfriend' for New Yorkers?

Well, the chances are probably quite slim.

According to the AI image, New Yorkers' dream guy is someone with brown medium-length curly hair, brown eyes, tattoos and of athletic build.

Next up we have Pennsylvania, and I'll give you one guess as to what celebrity the AI image looks like.

Yup, it looks eerily like Zac Efron in his days just after High School Musical's final release, and before his appearance in 17 Again.

Efron may be from California - with California's 'ideal boyfriend' channeling more of a long-haired and bushy-bearded look - but with Pennsylvania's dream man having brown hair, blue eyes, a side part and business casual/ corporate style, it's fair to say he almost perfectly matches the state's ideal type.

It's giving Zac Efron vibes.

Going back to California, it's not quite what most of us would probably expect.

In my head, I had images of a topless surfer dude with locks flowing past his shoulders - or given he 'is beach' - someone more like Ken, but the AI generated image doesn't quite live up to these expectations.

For starters, California's 'ideal boyfriend' is modestly covered, albeit wearing a 'hipster/ alternative' shirt - although, the edgy vibe is certainly captured with the undercut and tattoos.

But well, this image is certainly no Ryan Gosling either.

He's not as Ken as you'd expect.

For Ohio, you may have been expecting a Travis Kelce lookalike - the NFL player originally from this state.

After all, the professional footballer has been romantically linked to Taylor Swift, so all Swifites out there are probably hoping to bag a lookalike.

But it would seem people in Ohio aren't looking for the same sort of man - at least in looks that is - the 'punk/rock,' curly-haired, blue-eyed bombshell wearing a black leather jacket a far cry from sporty Kelce.

Imagine a more edgy Chuck Bass. Xoxo.

Ohio is certainly no Travis Kelce.

Texas may catch you by surprise too.

You might have envisioned someone like Jake Gyllenhaal or Heath Ledger as being close to the state's 'ideal boyfriend' - I mean, who didn't fall in love with both of them in Brokeback Mountain?!

But there are no cowboy hats or big buckles in this AI generated image.

Instead, Texans' 'ideal boyfriend' has brown hair, brown eyes, a fade haircut, is 'hipster/ alternative' in style and has tattoos too.

No cowboy hats to see here.

The AI generated boyfriend also has a couple of piercings as well.

Some states - Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont and Wyoming - weren't included in the study as a result of 'a low pool of survey respondents in those states'.

So, what do you think?
