How much Ryan Gosling was paid to play Ken in the Barbie movie

Spoiler alert: It was a lot

Barbie made movie history this summer when it became the first movie with a female director to make one billion dollars at the box office.

And since it's release, the film has already cemented itself in pop culture history - with people now using the film as a measure to see if someone is worth dating.

Even Harry Potter wasn't safe from being dethroned from Warner Bros top spot.

According to Forbes, Barbie ended up scooping $1.38 billion at the box office worldwide - which is a pretty big feat.

Not only that, but it also became one of very special twenty movies to cover a major box-office milestone.

And, despite only playing a supporting role, Ryan Gosling was certainly everyone's standout star as Ken - perhaps even Oscar-worthy in some people's opinion.

But, for all the Kenergy he brought to the movie, how much was he paid for the film?

According to ScreenRant, it's been reported that star Margot Robbie and Gosling were both paid the same fee for their roles in the film, as well as their viral marketing campaign.

And how much was that reported fee? $12.5 million each, Variety reports.

Not bad. I'd be singing 'I'm Just Ken' all the way to the bank.

Bet that's in your head now.

That being said, you might say that, in this case, given that Robbie was portraying the title character, an equal fee may not be reflective of their roles, without diminishing his importance in the movie.

But while the actors' fees were both reportedly the same, Variety also claimed that Robbie may have actually walked away with a great deal more than just her fee, with the Wolf of Wall Street star reportedly earning as much as $50 million.

Asides from her salary, bonuses from the box office could also be apart of it.

While Gosling's fee is line with his earnings from previous movies, it is not the most he has been paid for a role.

And the answer for the highest one might come as a surprise.

A good guess would be La La Land, which saw Gosling opposite Emma Stone in a Hollywood fantasy with lots of jazz.

But no, that was a mere $8 million, ScreenRant says.

So then, maybe his starring role opposite Harrison Ford in Blade Runner 2049?

Wrong again, that was $10 million.

Gosling's biggest fee was in fact for his starring role in the 2022 action flick The Gray Man, which apparently clocked in at some $20 million.
