Logan Paul thinks he 'almost killed' Rey Mysterio in a moment that many fans actually praised him for after their WWE title fight.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer faced Mysterio in their US Championship Match in Saudi Arabia earlier this month; a fight in which Paul managed to secure his first WWE title.

The match was praised generally by WWE fans, but there was one moment in particular that caught viewers' attention.

During the fight, Mysterio attempted to perform a backflip off the ropes into the ring, but in doing so he almost landed straight on his head.

Before he landed, Paul rushed towards him and managed to catch Mysterio, preventing him from potential disaster.

Paul's quick thinking earned him praise from fans, with many claiming he had 'saved Mysterio's life' - but now Paul has admitted that all was not quite as it seemed.

Logan Paul rushed to catch Rey Mysterio.

Opening up on his IMPAULSIVE podcast, Paul explained: “Look, I’m going to come clean, because I’ve seen all these positive headlines right, ‘Logan saves Rey Mysterio’, the Mexican community going crazy, they’re praising me, saying I’m sort of a hero & so I’m like dang, I’m being recognized for doing something cool I’ll take it."

After closer inspection, though, Paul realized he could have been close to making a fatal mistake.

“Upon assessing my performance, while I do think I did save Rey Mysterio’s life I think I also almost killed Rey Mysterio," he said.

“I think I was too far back for the move & I think he didn’t clear enough ground for the move, that’s what happened like…I was too far back and he didn’t clear enough ground we both made a mistake and I had to catch him," Paul said.

Logan Paul said his win was 'just the beginning'.

Paul pointed out that he 'wasn't gonna not catch him', adding: "So like truthfully while I like the headlines & I like being gassed up like this, I was just doing my job.”

Though Paul was 'just doing [his] job', his move thankfully did save Mysterio, rather than mark a dramatic end to his life.

After watching the save, one WWE fan wrote: "We almost just witnessed a WWE legend’s life end and Logan Paul to be the one to save him. Crazy world."

Another commented: "Fair play Logan that could have been bad for Rey. "

Despite helping out his opponent earlier in the fight, Paul didn't hold back as he went for the win, later telling reporters the title belt was 'just the beginning'.
