An Australian mother that filmed her infant son puffing on her vape will not be charged, New South Wales Police have confirmed.

The mother, believed to be from NSW's mid-north coast was seen smiling while the boy's aunt placed a vape in his mouth.

"Want to try," the woman said before the infant took a toke from the vape.

People around the 11-month-old didn't seem to care that the baby inhaled vapour from the device and then coughed it out.

The video sparked outrage on social media, and has now prompted a police response after concerns were raised for the baby's welfare.

Police confirmed to LADbible that police did attend a home in Kempsey in relation to the incident on Tuesday (February 28) following a concern-for-welfare report regarding the 10-month-old boy.

"Police have spoken with the child’s family and – following advice provided by with medical professionals and other governmental agencies – no further police action will be taken," a police spokesperson confirmed to LADbible.

A family member, who spoke to 7NEWS on the condition of anonymity, condemned their relative for her actions.

"It’s honestly putrid, like I will not say that it’s not because it is," the relative said.

"I removed my [relative] from that situation."

Another family member called the video 'sick' but added the young mum does try 'her best'.

They added: "It was just a stupid mistake that she made with a bunch of friends."

Video footage of the horrifying incident was posted on social media for all to see.

People quickly ripped into the mother for allowing such a shocking incident to happen to her son.

One user wrote: “Who gives their kid a vape, grow up and be a better mother. How can you put the vape up to your own son’s mouth and watch him suck on it and laugh while he’s choking and coughing.”

Another said: "They all deserve to have the baby taken off them and given to someone who desperately wants a child, and then throw them into jail, just disgusting."

A woman on social media, who appears to be the child's mother, took to Facebook to lash out at those roasting her online.

"Every c**t got the hide to sit there and talk about me and my child, take a look in yas (sic) own backyard," she said online, as per 7NEWS.

"You ain’t perfect either so keep that mouth going you ain’t scary, you’re nothing but bums."
