Murder victim’s girlfriend among 9 teenagers arrested in alleged plot to lure boy to his death

Trey Dean Wright died from multiple gunshot wounds in June

Nine people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 16-year-old boy - including his girlfriend.

On June 24, Florence County Sheriffs were alerted to a shooting and arrived at the scene to find Trey Dean Wright with multiple gunshot wounds.

Tragically, the teenager died from the injuries sustained in the shooting and 19-year-old Devan Scott Raper was arrested the following day.

He was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime and remains in jail without bond.

A press release from the sheriff's office read: "On June 24, 2025 at approximately 11:30 pm FCSO deputies responded to a call of a shooting incident on First Neck Road near Johnsonville, SC. When deputies arrived, the victim was discovered laying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds.

"EMS transported the victim to an area Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Florence County Coroner Keith Von Lutcken has identified the victim as 16 year old Trey Dean Wright of Johnsonville, SC."

It went on: "Devin Scott Raper was taken into custody on June 25, 2025 in Conway, SC and charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime. According to Investigators, Raper is alleged to have shot the victim following a verbal altercation."

Another eight people have since been charged in connection with Wright's death in what appears to have been a 'murder plot'.

Some of them were allegedly aware of Wright's location and, knowing Raper was armed, alerted him to his location, law enforcement said.

Reportedly, one of the bystanders recorded the whole thing.

Wright's girlfriend, Gianna Kistenmacher, 17, was one of the teens to have been taken into custody. She was charged with being an accessory before the fact for allegedly bringing Raper to the crime scene knowing he was both armed and likely to kill her boyfriend, police said.

According to WBTW, Kistenmacher has been granted bond and is currently under home confinement.

Others to have been arrested in connection with Wright's shooting are Hunter Matthew Kendall, 18, Sydney Marissa Kearns, 17, and Corrinne Elizabeth Belviso, 18.

Apparently, Wright and Raper's altercation was 'over a female', said Sheriff TJ Joye.

"This was an altercation between two people," he shared. "It’s not like I’m just going to go to Johnsonville and shoot somebody. They had issues with each other and it was over a female. The sad thing is, you got a 16-year-old that lost his life. You’ve got a 19-year-old who is going to be in jail the rest of his life. Over what?"
