A man who discovered a baby abandoned in a trash can has applied to formally adopt the youngster in an incredibly heartwarming move.
In a story that'll have you balling your eyes out by the time you finish reading, Jimmy Amisial has opened up about how finding an abandoned baby truly changed his life for the better.
It all started when the then 22-year-old came back from university in 2017 to visit his hometown in Haiti.

Jimmy, who helped out at a nearby orphanage from a young age, was taking a stroll when he saw a crowd gathered in the street.
He could hear screaming as he made his way to the front and couldn't believe his eyes when he saw a small four-month-old baby who had been abandoned and was covered in ants.
While the crowd was reluctant to get involved, Jimmy bravely stepped up and took the baby to his mother, Elicie Jean.

"He was crying and had no clothes on and I could see the pain in his eyes - I had to do something," Jimmy said of the heartwrenching moment.
The mother and son soon cleaned the baby up and got him some food and much-needed medical attention. Shortly after, the police launched an investigation to find the little one's parents, but they had no success.
A judge looking after the case asked if Jimmy would like to look after the young boy he helped save and, being the absolute hero that he is, the young man said he'd be happy to.

There was just one problem, though. Jimmy was a student at Texas State University, so they had to split his time between studying and travelling home to see the little boy, who he later named Emilio.
When Jimmy's away, Elicie looks after Emilio, who's been an absolute bundle of joy for the family.
But now, aged 27, Jimmy is starting the official paperwork to adopt Emilio and it means the world to him, with the caring parent-to-be saying: "It's been an incredible journey, and watching him grow up has been so rewarding - I'm very proud of him."
"I had to do what I had to do when no one else wanted to do it, and I'm so grateful for the past four and a half years.

"I truly do feel like a father, and I'm excited to put pen to paper and make Emilio my son - I just need to raise the money first."
Jimmy went on to say that he was just happy he could help "transform [Emilio's] life from being abandoned in the trash to being a wonderful treasure."
While Jimmy had his studies to worry about, his bond with Emilio was incredibly personal: "I didn't have a dad growing up, and this poor child was facing a lifetime of instability and uncertainty.

"Something inside was telling me that this had happened for a reason - so I took a leap of faith.
"Sometimes you don't have to know what to do, you just have to be ready, to do it."
And, honestly, massive hats off to Jimmy and we hope he'll be able to sign the adoption papers very soon.
