A police force in the US has detained a fugitive who commented on their Facebook 'most wanted' post.

Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, in Georgia, shared a collection of mug shots from the county's most wanted list, appealing for any information that might help secure their arrest.

The force probably wasn't expecting a reply from Christopher Spaulding though, who commented on the post.

It turns out Spaulding was wanted by the department, who replied: "You are correct you have two warrants, we are on the way."

True to their word, they picked up Spaulding right away, sharing a photo of him in handcuffs about an hour after he commented on the most wanted post.

Captioning the photo, Rockdale County Sheriff's Office said: "We appreciate you for your assistance in your capture!

"Special thanks to our Fugitive Unit for being active and efficiently apprehending Mr. Spaulding who has 2 warrants for Felony Violation of Probation.

"Our Top 10 is compiled based off of the severity of the charges only. By not being on this list does not mean our Fugitive Unit is not looking for you if you have an active warrant.

"If you have any information or would like to know if you have a warrant please contact Investigator Dunn at 770-278-8183 or [email protected]."

The force thanked him for his help.

Last week, a man with a wide neck whose mug shot went viral was arrested once again.

Charles Dion McDowell - otherwise known as Wide Neck Guy - first made headlines in 2018 when he was arrested for several drug offences in northern Florida.

He was accused of having intent to sell, manufacture or deliver after being found in possession of cocaine and meth.

McDowell attempted to flee police, but with a neck that recognisable, it's unsurprising he didn't get too far.

Later that very same year, 'Wide Neck' was arrested again for driving with a revoked licence, improper lane usage, reckless driving and a second degree possession of marijuana charge, as well as trying to evade police, again.

And on Sunday (27 November) the 35-year-old was booked into the Escambia County Jail on charges of aggravated stalking and withholding child support.

McDowell allegedly showed up at a woman's home on 24 August and sent her threatening text messages, according to local outlet WEAR-TV.
