Man Accused Of Robbing Bank Disguised As Grandma

The suspect was seen wearing a floral dress and a white wig in the bank

Police are appealing to the public for information about a man who is accused of robbing a bank in Georgia, US while dressed up as an elderly woman.

The suspect was caught on camera during the alleged crime which took place at the Chase Bank at 323 Jonesboro Rd in McDonough, Georgia on Monday (18 July).

According to an appeal from the McDonough Police Department, the suspect entered the bank like any other customer, except he was dressed in a disguise which looked like it could have come straight from a children's show.

The suspect fled the scene in a white SUV.

The alleged robber was described by the police department as a Black male, approximately six feet tall and slender.

Rather than the typical balaclava or mask we see robbers wearing in movies, images from the scene show he was wearing an orange and yellow floral dress with long sleeves, as well as white trainers, orange latex-style gloves and a black mask or neck gaiter - a kind of sleeve which can be used to keep the neck warm.

Further adding to the disguise, the suspect was also wearing a white, short, curly-haired wig. Think Josh from Drake and Josh dressing up as Miss Nancy in the pilot episode, but add a few decades.

Carrying a pink paper bag, the suspect approached the bank teller and presented a note demanding they hand over some money. It's unclear whether they asked for a specific amount, but the suspect is said to have told the teller they were carrying a gun.

After receiving the money, the suspect left the building and fled in a vehicle described as a newer model, small white SUV, possibly a Lexus. There was no license plate on display, preventing police from immediately tracking it down.

After the police shared news of the crime online, some Facebook users couldn't resist making jokes about the suspect's disguise as one commented: "Don’t worry his grandma will tell on him when she sees this and realizes her Sunday wig is missing."

Police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Another alluded to the high price of petrol and gasoline as they responded: "He was tryna make sure he had enough for gas."
