A fairly obvious warning: If you're arachnophobic turn away now

Gamers are flocking to social media in horror over the spiders in Hogwarts Legacy.

It shouldn't really be too much of a surprise to Hogwarts Legacy purchasers that the game contains spiders - if they were true Harry Potter fans, how could they forget the skin-crawling scene between Harry, Ron and Aragog's army?

Either way, gamers have been scuttling to social media in fear over the game's inclusion of the eight-legged arthropods, raising similar questions as Ron: "Why spiders? Why couldn't it be, 'Follow the butterflies?'"

Gamers have flooded to Twitter in fright after realising the sheer number of spiders they are set to encounter in the game.

One said: "Having to get my other half to do the Forbidden Forest quest on Hogwarts Legacy because my arachnophobia is so bad I can't even look at the screen without wanting to be sick."

"HOW SHOULD I PLAY HOGWARTS LEGACY CALMLY IF I HAVE ARACHNOPHOBIA," another added.

A third tagged Warner Bros. Games Support, writing: "@WBGamesSupport hi there! Do you know whether there will be a spider patch for hogwarts legacy. I’m struggling to get past the the spider quest due to my acrophobia."

Gamers have taken to Twitter to warn anyone arachnophobic about Hogwarts Legacy.

The page then responded with: "Hi Adam! Thanks for your interest in seeing an arachnophobia mode in Hogwarts Legacy!

"While we don't have any info on future updates, we'll be happy to pass your feedback along to the Game Team. If there is anything else we can help with, please don't hesitate to let us know!"

A final resolved: "@AvalancheWB I looove being able to walk through Hogwarts and all but can we pleeeeeeease get a 'no arachnophobia' mode, like now?

"I see myself only breeding magical creatures and never finishing the story cause I panic and almost throw my controller every time I see one.."

Calls have been growing for an 'arachnophobia mode'.

Thankfully, while Warner Bros. Games is yet to create an arachnophobia-free mode, those who fear spiders have had their prayers answered by a mod for Hogwarts Legacy.

The mod sees spiders appear as red boxes opposed to spine-tingling, eight-legged, furry predators.

According to Game Rant, the mod - while getting rid of the game's eight-legged critters - does still have a few bugs of its own, and a few dead spiders do remain visible.

A member of the modding community has made an arachnophobia mode for the game.

As per PC Gamer, to install the mod, you 'need to have a Nexus Mods account and will need to download Norskpl's zip file'.

It continues: "Once you have that, you just need to unzip it in the game folder, which can be found by right-clicking the game in your Steam library, hovering over manage, and selecting browse local files.

"You can also navigate to the game folder in file explorer. The default location should resemble this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy. Norskpl provided a video tutorial too."

Hogwarts Legacy is now available for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5. PS4 and Xbox One versions are set for release on 4 April and the Switch version is launching 25 July.
