A reality star has been warned that her coffee ‘addiction’ could kill her after the symptoms and impact of caffeine toxicity were revealed.

A teaser for the upcoming episodes of My Strange Addiction featured a woman who claims to drink 100 cups of coffee a day.

The TLC show, which is known for showcasing deadly and dangerous addictions, as well as some that are a little less harmful, had a clip of the woman posted to Instagram.

This video revealed an important conversation she had with a healthcare professional.

Angela, a 45-year-old single mother from Jersey Shore, New Jersey, finally seeks advice from her doctor after pressure from her kids.

“They think I drink too much coffee,” the woman said.

“Okay, how much coffee are you drinking, if you had to quantify it?” the doctor then asked.

While the woman initially said it was ‘more than 10,’ she eventually reveals the number is ‘way more than 10.”

“I think I’ve had almost 100 cups of coffee a day,” Angela then admits, with the doctor calling it ‘super excessive’ and could give her ‘caffeine toxicity’.

The doctor went on to warn that there are a number of symptoms that are associated with caffeine toxicity, that range from mild to severe.

According to Healthline, symptoms of a caffeine overdose can include things like dizziness, diarrhoea, increased thirst, insomnia, headache, fever and irritability.

Other symptoms that are considered to be a medical emergency are things like having trouble breathing, vomiting, hallucinations, confusion, chest pain, irregular or fast heartbeat, uncontrollable muscle movements, and convulsions.

To avoid this, you’re only supposed to have around four cups or less, and to keep it below 400mg.

If not, the doctor in the TLC show warned Angela that long-term risks of drinking too much coffee can be significantly bad for her.

It’s an ‘addictive drug’, she said, that should only be consumed in ‘small doses.’

“Over time and the amount that she’s drinking, definitely she’s addicted to it,” the doctor went on to share.

Zack D Films once created a video on YouTube explaining the case of a man who accidentally drank enough caffeine powder to count as 200 coffees.

Sadly, his heart began to beat way too fast, he foamed at the mouth, and passed away of cardiac arrest due to the massive amounts of caffeine in his system causing irregular and hast heart beats.
