A Starbucks barista has been praised on social media for leaving a secret note on a cup to help a young female customer.

Typically, the one thing written on a Starbucks cup is your name spelt horribly wrong.

However, one staff member at a branch in Corpus Christi, Texas penned something of great importance.

And that message was revealed on Facebook by the mother of student Brandy Selim Roberson in February 2022.

The mom explained how her teen daughter was in Starbucks alone when a man entered the coffee shop and was acting strangely.

Staff quickly became concerned for the student as the man began engaging in conversation with her.

A female barista decided to intervene by writing a secret note on a paper cup, which was handed to the teen.

The barista said the cup was ‘an extra hot chocolate someone forgot to pick up’ while she handed over the goods.

The note read: “Are you okay? Do you want us to intervene? If you do, take the lid off the cup.”

Roberson then looked towards the counter where, according to her mom, there was a ‘row of baristas staring at her — ready to step in’.

The student and her mother were full of praise for the Starbucks barista as she noticed potential danger.

She told The New York Post: “This reaffirms my faith in humanity. Maybe just seeing this story, others... if given the opportunity to say something or turn away, they would say something."

The Facebook post went viral after being posted, with many praising the employee's quick thinking.

"In today’s society more people should be proactive like this. You just never know what a situation really is. Kudos to the alert Starbuck’s staff. Never be silent and always ask," one social media user wrote.

A second added: "As a parent, this story shook me to the core, but also gave me hope that there’s still some humanity out there," while a third remarked: "As a father of daughter, I’m glad people are still looking out."

Meanwhile, a fourth commented: "That’s some quick thinking by the staff. Nice to see people looking out for one another."

The story touched many other people, with another person simply writing that the entire story gave them goosebumps.

The general consensus is the high praise of the barista as she noticed the problem without being directly informed by the student.
