Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has announced his presidential bid for 2024

His announcement suffered loads of technical difficulties after using Twitter to launch his campaign.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is officially looking to take over the White House.

The Republican state leader has announced his bid to become US President in next year's election.

He decided to launch his campaign on Twitter Spaces, a live-streaming format on the social media platform.

However, it was plagued with difficulties and it took more than 20 minutes for it to get started.

Users who had tuned in to hear the launch were greeted with silence, people breathing, random music and DeSantis coming in and out of Spaces.

More than 600,000 people were waiting for the announcement at its peak and it was a very awkward start.

Once things got going, he made his pitch to American voters.

“We must end the culture of losing that has infected the Republican Party in recent years,” he said.

“The tired dogmas of the past are inadequate for a vibrant future.

"We must look forward, not backwards.

"We need the courage to lead, and we must have the strength to win.”

Donald Trump, who has also announced a bid to take the White House in 2024, responded to DeSantis' campaign launch.

He wrote on Truth Social: "My Red Button is bigger, better, stronger, and is working (TRUTH!), yours does not! (per my conversation with Kim Jung Un, of North Korea, soon to become my friend!)."
