A 46-year-old man has been shot dead on a nudist beach in France after allegedly insulting other people and performing a sex act.
France3 reports that the man was shot dead on the morning of 23 July after getting into an argument with another person on the beach in his 70s.
The man, described as an 'exhibitionist', was said to have bothered a woman by pleasuring himself while staring at her on the La Mama naturist beach in the Grand parc de Miribel-Jonage on the outskirts of Lyon.
He was also said to have shouted insults at other people on the beach along with performing a sex act.
This led to a confrontation with the alleged shooter, who according to Le Parisien was a regular at the nudist beach.
The two got into an argument and the 46-year-old victim reportedly refused to take the discussion off the beach, leading the 76-year-old to allegedly get a gun from his bag and open fire.
According to witnesses the shooter fired 'at least three shots', hitting the victim in the chest and killing him, despite the efforts of paramedics the victim was declared dead at the scene.
Emergency services closed the beach so that forensic police could study the scene and speak to witnesses, with around 100 naturists present at the time of the shooting to witness it.
The suspect surrendered himself to police without a struggle and made no attempt to deny his part in the shooting.
He is reportedly an avid sports shooter who had a licence for his hunting rifle, though why he brought it to a nudist beach is not clear.
French police have said they are looking into the shooter's reasons for having his gun with him at the time of the incident as his licence doesn't allow him to take the gun on public roads.
Doctors examined the elderly suspect to determine whether he was well enough to take into custody and he was deemed to be healthy enough to be arrested.
Described as 'the ideal place to learn about the joys of living naked', La Mama naturist beach is a 200 metre stretch of pebble beach where you can let it all hang out.
It was made an official naturist beach by decree in 2009 to provide a place where people of all ages can try out naturism for themselves.
The beach is near Gymno Club Rhodanien, one of the first naturist clubs in France created all the way back in 1929.
