Donald Trump posts bizarre video mocking Elon Musk and Ron DeSantis after presidential announcement

The former president wasted no time in mocking his competition

Donald Trump didn't hesitate to take a shot at Florida governor Ron DeSantis after his attempt to declare his run for president went disastrously wrong.

And in true Trump fashion, he did it in an entirely bizarre way:

DeSantis launched his presidential campaign in a Twitter livestream on Wednesday (24 May), when he was joined by Elon Musk and declared Americans should 'choose a new direction'.

The governor wanted to tell the world that he planned to 'lead our great American comeback', but most followers struggled to actually hear what he was saying as the stream was plagued with technical issues and kept crashing.

Obviously it wasn't quite the grand announcement DeSantis had planned, and it wasn't long before he started being mocked online.

Given his penchant for blasting others online, it's not surprising that former president Trump was among those firing shots.

He mocked DeSantis on multiple platforms, including his Truth Social account where he wrote: "Wow. The DeSanctus TWITTER launch is a DISASTER! His whole campaign will be a disaster. WATCH!"

Trump then shared a more elaborate jab at the governor on Instagram, where he posted a fake video designed to look like it had been taken from Twitter Spaces.

The clip included DeSantis and Musk, as well as the liberal philanthropist George Soros, former Vice President Dick Cheney, Adolf Hitler and the Devil himself.

Drawing on how DeSantis' announcement had gone wrong, the video showed Soros constantly interrupting the speakers as DeSantis attempted to share his big news and a user named 'FBI' started asking how they were going to 'take out Trump'.

The voice given to Musk then responded: "Uh, guys from the FBI, this is not a private call, this is a public Twitter Space, everyone can listen in."

The video went on for two minutes, and ended with an appearance from Trump's account as he popped up to say the 'real president' wanted to 'say a few words'.

He then went on to address the other speakers in the chat, telling the Devil he was going to 'kick [his] ass', and that DeSantis could 'kiss [his] big beautiful 2024 presidential a**'. His words, not mine.

The video has left people absolutely baffled, with one Twitter user saying they were 'losing their mind' over the post.

"I’m embarrassed on behalf of Americans today," another wrote.
