Warning: This article contains discussion of suicide which some readers may find distressing.

New Hampshire mother Emily Long uploaded a series of disturbing videos onto social media ahead of allegedly shooting members of her family.

Authorities discovered the scene in the rural town of Madbury on Monday (August 18), with the 34-year-old believed to have shot her terminally ill husband, Ryan, 48, and their children Parker, eight, and Ryan Jr., six. A third child was found unharmed at the property.

According to autopsy results, the local medical examiner found that Emily herself had also died, this time from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

In the build-up to this horrendous tragedy, the mom seemingly used social media as a way to decompress as the family dealt with her husband's declining health; he had an aggressive type of brain tumor known as glioblastoma.

Posting on TikTok in recent months - the video is now unavailable - Emily told her followers that the kids were 'definitely struggling' and she had been 'depressed' in recent times.

"All I want to do is hide under a blanket with my kids, but that isn't healthy for them and it's not healthy for me," she stated from behind a pair of sunglasses.

"Today I decided I need to make a conscious effort to shift my mindset. I'm getting out of this depression whether I want to or not. I am determined to create normalcy.

"I have been struggling so much and really depressed and just have really become reclusive, and just wanted to be with my kids and my husband. That being said, I'm making a change and it is starting today."

Emily, who worked as a director of operations for a restaurant chain, concluded: "And I'm making a point to get out of my depression and do this for my family."

In previous clips, the mother-of-three spoke about the grim task of having to explain school psychologist Ryan's diagnosis to their youngsters.

"Want to watch someone actually fall apart before your very eyes? I swear, this cancer will be the thing that breaks me," read one of her captions.

In a statement from the New Hampshire Department of Justice, a spokesperson said: "Based upon the information available at this time, it appears that in the early morning hours of Monday, August 18, 2025, Ms. Long took a handgun from the home and caused the deaths of Ryan Long and her two children, Parker and Ryan, and then took her own life immediately thereafter."

As per the Daily Mail, authorities noted that 'while investigators are becoming aware of various concerns/issues ongoing in the household at the time of the event in question, people should avoid speculating that this event was caused by a single reason or stressor'.

New Hampshire Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati told WCAX: "One of the biggest questions they have right now is motive, why? And I think that’s probably one of the more difficult things that they are trying to grasp to understand how this came to be."
