Charli D'Amelio could soon be knocked off her spot as TikTok's most follower creator.

The 18-year-old dancer has had a pretty impressive run, becoming the first TikToker in 2020 to reach 100 million followers.

Since then, Charli has become one of the most recognisable social media stars, with 141.7 million followers on TikTok.

Speaking out about reaching her landmark 100 million, Charli shared a video with the caption: "A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS HELPED ME REACH 100 MILLION SUPPORTERS!!! AND ANOTHER HUGE THANK YOU TO @tiktok I LOVE EVERY ONE OF YOU!!!"

She explained in the video that the achievement felt like a 'dream' adding: "I can't believe there's 100 million supporters following me right now. That is insane, oh my goodness.

"Y'all can't grasp that this is real, I still feel like it's a dream, kind of waiting to wake up. Very insane. Oh my goodness, thank you!"

Charli was rightful ecstatic about the news and has only continued to amass more followers, with her currently holding 141.7 million on TikTok and 48.7 million on Instagram.

However, her top spot is being challenged by hilarious content creator, Khabane Lame.

At the time of writing, Khabane has 140.8 million followers and while that might seem a little distant from Charli's, the content creator is gaining around 100,000 followers a day.

The 22-year-old is a former factory worker from Italy and after watching a few videos, you'll notice he hardly talks in his clips... and he doesn't need to.

Instead, Khabane likes to emphasise the sheer stupidity of other TikTokers' life hacks by giving a wide-eyed stare or exaggerating their actions. And the result? Heart-warming humour that will have you scrolling for at least thirty minutes.

It's this off-cuff, paired-down sense of humour, that has seen Khabane become one of the fastest rising stars on TikTok.

Speaking of his iconic expressions to The New York Times the creator said: "It’s my face and my expressions which make people laugh," adding that they were a 'global language'.

And that global language seems to be working wonders for Khabane, with one of the TikToker's most recent videos garnering 26.2 million views without him saying a single word.

In the video, Khabane shows the all-to-real perils of online ordering, using an ill-fitting Spidey suit to really drive his point home and it's pretty hilarious.

So, keep watching because you could soon be looking at TikTok's new, most followed star.
