It's a big day for Call of Duty fans as the franchise has just revealed the new Warzone game is set to arrive later this year.

It's official, 2022 is the year of Call of Duty. Not only has the new trailer for the highly anticipated Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 just been released ahead of its arrival in October, but the franchise has also confirmed the all-new Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is on its way.

In a release on the official Call of Duty website, the creators explained the new Warzone will be released 'soon after' Modern Warfare II as 'an extension of the Modern Warfare II universe'.

Warzone 2.0 comes following the original free-to-play battle royale game released in March 2020, and over the p§ast two years creators say they have 'taken a wide range of community feedback to heart'.

These notes from fans mean that Warzone 2.0 will not only give fans access to a new version of the game, but also 'new technology, new features, and new gameplay that work seamlessly together'.

"In order to fully deliver this state-of-the-art experience, Warzone 2.0 will feature new Modern Warfare II content and systems with brand-new progression and inventories. Today’s Warzone will continue as a separate experience that will include a continuation of player progression and inventories within that Warzone experience," the post explains.

Warzone 2.0 is being developed by Modern Warfare II developers Infinity Ward and uses the same technology powering Modern Warfare II, ensuring gamers will have the 'most seamless and advanced Call of Duty experiences ever', the creators promise.

The influx of new information has been welcomed by fans who have taken to Twitter to share their excitement over the announcements, with one person joking the announcement of Warzone 2.0 was 'all [they] need to see'.

Another commented: "The most important news from the reveal: [Warzone 2.0] confirmed for this year."

Call of Duty has promised there are more details about the new Warzone game to come, assuring fans they can 'expect more intel on a new sandbox mode and the brand-new playspace as we get closer to launch'.

It's evidently going to be a few months until gamers can start exploring everything Warzone 2.0 will have to offer, but I'm sure the morsels of information the creators will drop along the way will be enough to keep the hype going until it arrives.
