Andrew Tate has been detained on an arrest warrant in Romania over allegations of sexual aggression.

The controversial social media influencer was freed from house arrest in Romania after winning an appeal pending his trial on rape and human trafficking charges in August 2023, but has now been taken into custody again.

Tate and his brother Tristan were detained in Romania on Monday night (March 11) over allegations of sexual aggression following a European arrest warrant by UK authorities. They are now being held for 24 hours.

According to Romanian police, the alleged offences also include exploiting people in Great Britain.

The charges date back between 2012 and 2015.

The Tate brothers deny the allegations and say they were 'fully committed to challenging these accusations with unwavering determination and resolve'.

A representative for the "influencer" labelled the accusations as 'bewildering revival of decade-old accusations', BBC News reports.

They added that the brothers are 'dismayed and deeply troubled' by the new claims.

The statement continued: "They categorically reject all charges and express profound disappointment that such serious allegations are being resurrected without substantial new evidence."

Both Andrew, 37, and Tristan, 34, were first detained in Romania in December 2022 when they were accused of rape and human trafficking.

They were being held in prison before going on to be released under house arrest.

At the time of his release from house arrest last year, the 37-year-old said he was confident that he'd be 'absolutely exonerated'.

"I’m sure in the end we will be absolutely exonerated and everybody who was pushing these lies and reporting things on repeat without any substantial evidence are going to have to analyse within themselves why they decide to try and destroy people’s lives purely for views," Tate said at the time.

Andrew Tate has previously expressed his confidence about being 'exonerated' of his alleged crimes.

"I’ve done nothing wrong, God knows I’ve done nothing wrong, in my heart I know I’ve done nothing wrong. I think the people at home with a functioning brain understand we’ve done nothing wrong."

Tate has previously hailed himself as the 'king of toxic masculinity' and his controversial views sparked the likes of TikTok to clamp down on 'hateful' content.

People demanded that Tate's content was removed from the video sharing platform for his 'misogynistic' content.

He went on to be banned from TikTok, as well as several other social media platforms.
